OK, now we know why Tulsi Gabbard made her statement yesterday announcing that she "left" the Democratic Party.

She's starting her own podcast and wanted publicity for its launch today.

She also released video of her shooting ARs and handguns at some sort of Tactical class, again probably to promote her new Podcast and try to reverse her anti-gun past.

Tulsi Gabbard
October 11, 2022

I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic party that’s under the complete control of an elitist, cabal of War mongers, who are driven by cowardly woke - who divide Us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively worked to undermine our god-given freedoms that are enshrined in our constitution, who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonized the police.

But Tech criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans who believe in open borders, who weaponize the National Security State to go after their political opponents, and above all, who are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.

Now, I believe in a government that’s of the People by the people and for the people, unfortunately, today’s Democratic party does not. Instead it stands for a government that is of, by, and for the powerful Elite.

I’m calling on my fellow common-sense independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic party. If you can no longer stomach the direction that the so-called woke Democratic party ideologues are taking our country, I invite you to join me.

She’s friends with Joe Rogan. Maybe he helped talk her in to making some serious coin via podcast. Rogan’s contract is 9 figures. She’ll definitely draw an audience.

VIDEO: Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Introduces Legislation to Stop Arming Terrorists
December 8, 2016
Press Release

Washington, DC—Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) introduced the Stop Arming Terrorists Act today. The legislation would prohibit the U.S. government from using American taxpayer dollars to provide funding, weapons, training, and intelligence support to groups like the Levant Front, Fursan al Ha and other allies of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, al-Qaeda and ISIS, or to countries who are providing direct or indirect support to those same groups.

The legislation is cosponsored by Reps. Peter Welch (D-VT-AL), Barbara Lee (D-CA-13), Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA-48), and Thomas Massie (R-KY-04), and supported by the Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and the U.S. Peace Council.

Video of Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s speech on the House floor is available here
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said, “Under U.S. law it is illegal for any American to provide money or assistance to al-Qaeda, ISIS or other terrorist groups. If you or I gave money, weapons or support to al-Qaeda or ISIS, we would be thrown in jail. Yet the U.S. government has been violating this law for years, quietly supporting allies and partners of al-Qaeda, ISIL, Jabhat Fateh al Sham and other terrorist groups with money, weapons, and intelligence support, in their fight to overthrow the Syrian government.[i]

“The CIA has also been funneling weapons and money through Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and others who provide direct and indirect support to groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda. This support has allowed al-Qaeda and their fellow terrorist organizations to establish strongholds throughout Syria, including in Aleppo.

“A New York Times article confirmed that ‘rebel groups’ supported by the U.S. ‘have entered into battlefield alliances with the affiliate of al-Qaeda in Syria, formerly known as al Nusra.’ This alliance has rendered the phrase ‘moderate rebels’ meaningless. Reports confirm that ‘every armed anti-Assad organization unit in those provinces [of Idlib and Aleppo] is engaged in a military structure controlled by [al-Qaeda’s] Nusra militants.’

“A recent Wall Street Journal article reported that many rebel groups are ‘doubling down on their alliance’ with al Nusra. Some rebel groups are renewing their alliance, while others, like Nour al-Din al-Zinki, a former CIA-backed group and one of the largest factions in Aleppo are joining for the first time. “The Syria Conquest Front—formerly known as the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front—is deeply intermingled with armed opposition groups of all stripes across Syria’s battlefields.”

“The CIA has long been supporting a group called Fursan al Haqq, providing them with salaries, weapons and support, including surface to air missiles. This group is cooperating with and fighting alongside an al-Qaeda affiliated group trying to overthrow the Syrian government. The Levant Front is another so-called moderate umbrella group of Syrian opposition fighters. Over the past year, the United States has been working with Turkey to give this group intelligence support and other forms of military assistance. This group has joined forces with al-Qaeda’s offshoot group in Syria.

“This madness must end. We must stop arming terrorists. The Government must end this hypocrisy and abide by the same laws that apply to its’ citizens.

“That is why I’ve introduced the Stop Arming Terrorists bill—legislation based on congressional action during the Iran-Contra affair to stop the CIA’s illegal arming of rebels in Nicaragua. It will prohibit any Federal agency from using taxpayer dollars to provide weapons, cash, intelligence, or any support to al-Qaeda, ISIS and other terrorist groups, and it will prohibit the government from funneling money and weapons through other countries who are directly or indirectly supporting terrorists,” concluded Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

“I don’t trust her.”

What to trust. If she is brutally honest who cares. There is a lot of well-deserved ammuninition to go after Republicans on our side. A good percentage of Republicans are also total crap. Certainly are current leaders in congress along with their followers.

I want someone attacking both sides. And even though I love Trump (the only one that can save our country) he has his faults. We have to be able to accept criticism.

And be open-minded to other views, that’s how we grow.

These are difficult times. As an analogy, it’s like a game of football. Gabbard is far from perfect. But it looks like she’ll be moving the ball in the right direction.

Every little bit helps.

So she’s planning to run for office on R ticket.

This is why the R party can never get 2 steps ahead.

We purge the likes of Liz Cheney and get one RINO out and in comes another that I guarantee you will be fawned over and welcomed with open arms.

And even the stauchest 2A advocates will fall for it.

If respect her more if she went libertarian.

“Open-minded to other views, that’s how we grow.”

I like Tulsi, but that is total liberal BS. One should never be “open-minded to other views” especially when you disagree with those views.

We’re not the “woke” left, afraid of different ideas and expecting everyone to be marching lock-step to the utopian future where everyone says and thinks the same things (the left’s idea of “diversity”).

Ben Sasse smugly set up his own gig at a university before dropping out of politics, only to find the students might very well get him booted from his new job. Totally unexpected. If he knew that might have happened, he probably would have tried to hang on to his political cash cow.
Same with Tulsi, if her podcast goes bust, she will be back to the DNC if she hasn’t burned her bridges.

The problems I have with your "post" is that the title has scare quotes in it. Implying what, exactly?

You think she didn't really "leave" but will be announcing next week that she's back in the party? Or secretly pulling the Biden lever in the next election?

The simple facts of this case is this: she left by issuing a dramatic statement, on video. She publicized it enough that it was given the widest possible coverage, including segments on most TV News channels, and articles in many newspapers and magazines.

As far as ice clear denunciations go, it was a 10 out of 10. She blasted them, including her much appreciated calling out of "anti-White racism". Who was the last politician, black, white or other who has done that?

You seriously could not design a more perfect (from the right-wing point of view) leaving of the Democratic party by a Democratic politician if it was written by Donald Trump or Ronald Reagan

It was designed to, and accomplished, doing the maximum damage to the Democrats, coming as it does a few weeks before the election. Maybe it gets some people thinking about why the pull the Donkey lever, or do they really want to support Candidate X, who her statement seems to accuse.

It was a thing of beauty, perfectly formed.

“I don’t trust her. I know some here do but there is something not right.”

She’s a staunch conservative except for every one her stated political positions. I saw a video of her shooting an AR, when she is on record as supporting a ban on them.

Tulsi Gabbard’s views on
Assault Weapons
Support a ban on assault weapons

She is a snake in the grass. I honestly don’t understand the support she gets from conservatives. Criticizing her own democrat party while having all the same positions they do does not make her a conservative.

I agree. She needs to earn some trust.

She is definitely an opportunist.

Tulsi Gabbard is not trying to be a Republican, and I would not want her to act as if she were. But like so many others (going back to Ronaldus Magnus), she did not leave the Democrat party, the Democrat party left her.

The first step in correcting a problem is to admit there IS a problem. We do not have a two-party system in this country, it is more like a uniparty trying to utterly obliterate any possible competition, and they have started with the more traditional and rational Democrats. Like the Borg, the uniparty has already subsumed what are known as RINOs, Republicans in name only, and made them a wholly dependent and subservient faction that can be counted on to not interfere with the whims and imperatives of the oligarchy that controls the uniparty.

Call it “socialist”, even “Communist”, but at heart, it is a command-and-control scheme, making promises they never mean to keep, and placing the entire populace in a hierarchy of the elite few at the top, a subservient pack of enforcers in positions comparable to a military regiment, and the great mass of worker ants at the bottom.

The Alexander Tytler syllogism applies here.

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

You don’t need to - whatever her motivations are, she is better for us if she is calling out dems instead of keeping quiet about their record.
