Wasn’t that character inspired by a gay actress back in the 1960s? Believe she knew Dick Sargent and other closeted gays in Hollywood back then.

For the life of me I cannot understand why a children’s cartoon “needs” sexuality at all.
Aren’t they after the evil old white guys all the time? They don’t have time for sexuality.

Another dead franchise. Go woke go broke.
I can’t tell you how many $ I have saved with the new woke clothing models but it’s big bucks. When I look for kids clothing and everyone is woke and gangsta I close the site. Turns out the kids I buy for can make do with less outfits from the woke outfitters. The teen models are particularly appalling. I would cross the street to avoid most of them.

I'm not sure what the big news here is. It was obvious from the beginning of the show that Velma was sort of tomboyish, and would be likely to play for the other team.
Now, if they had made Daphne, the hot chick, the lesbian, that would have been news!
To: JV3MRC
Not just lesbian, but “canonically” lesbian?

“that Velma Dinkley, the cerebral mystery solver with the ever-present orange turtleneck, is canonically a lesbian.” Nope.
But it is interesting that if you are a female that is not drop dead gorgeous and smart you are, "obviously a lesbian".
Why not Daphne?
True that would play more into the male liberal fantasy rather then anything resembling reality but so does this.

Oddly enough, Velma probably has 10 times more rule 34 porn than does rigid Daphne, who just stands around like a mannequin.
Making Velma a lesbian makes about as much sense as making Shaggy or Fred gay.

In the live action films, Velma was definitely not gay—she was chasing a boy.
