Trump return could have a “tremendous impact on 2024 elections, especially if Donald Trump is a presidential candidate,” Andrew Bleeker, president of the progressive political public affairs firm Bully Pulpit Interactive, said in an interview. “You can think of it as a $40 billion donation to the Trump campaign.”
Still, it’s not entirely clear whether Trump would help — or hurt — Republicans. “It’s like the weather, I can’t know what the weather’s going to be on Election Day, but it’s going to have an impact. It could be good, it could be bad,” Wilson said.
It could also mean the return of midnight tweet storms that political reporters and editors had come to dread — and expect — during the Trump administration.
Misinformation and hate speech could poison the platform Despite its ups and downs, Twitter has had one of the more responsible content moderation policies of the large social media platforms, said Mark Jablonowski, president of DSPolitical, an advertising technology firm supporting Democratic candidates.
“Pulling that risks Twitter turning into a 4chan or an 8chan, which we just really don’t want to see,” he said.
“If Trump is able to throw his support behind candidates with a very loud megaphone that may not be factually accurate, sharing misinformation and disinformation, that can absolutely sway elections away from Democrats,” Jablonowski said.

There’s a lot of bad news out there but at least this is not one of them. Brings a smile to me face.
They all are afraid Musk is going to bring free speech to Twitter. What is it about free speech that scares them so I wonder. They are afraid of losing control of the narrative, and anyone spilling the beans on the truth.
I’ll bet the DOJ sues twitter after Elon takes over for “something”.
Yes it is.
That's why you're freaking out.
If Washington were really worried about Musk, the Politico story would be about fraud and FBI raids on his offices, none of this quirky, “freaking out,” uniparty circus side show crap.
Nobody is forced to take the "poison". Besides, isn't the antidote more free speech. That used to be liberals argument anyway.
That would be a safe bet.
I’ll add that the FBI show up at Elon’s door at 0530 too.
Funny article. Facts are never the Democrats friend.
Ater notifying CNN first.
i remember when liberals wanted to actually debate ideas and topics
a very long long time ago, in a galaxy, far far away
Because people voting for GOP candidates are misinformed ding dongs. /sarc
Or the SEC crawls up his butt with a microscope, since Elon is acquiring Twit-Er through a stock purchase.
Probably a trifecta.
Twitter Employees go BERSERK over Elon Musk. A serious look at what goes on in their widdle brains.

Here in Washington state, they are just starting a campaign to combat “misinformation” ahead of the midterm elections. The secretary of state’s office is saying that we have “free and fair” elections that are absolutely transparent.
Go back to 2004. Dino Rossi versus Christine Gregoire for the governorship. Read about what happened and tell me that we have free and fair elections that are completely transparent.
I bet you are absolutely right! The full weight of us govt, the Canadian gvt and the EU will be brought to bear, the new regulations will be like a tidal wave against twitter
“Pulling that risks Twitter turning into a 4chan or an 8chan, which we just really don’t want to see,” he said“
So pony up $50,000,000,000.00 and out bid Elon.
Then you can do whatever you want with Twitter.

Ah, yes, Christine “Fraudoire” Gregoire, who insisted on recounts until, suddenly, magically, some “Landslide Lyndon” ballots showed up in Kings County to put her over the top.
Yes, I understand what happened there. And the GOP probably didn’t squeal about it, because, as I said before, sometimes they do it too. Chris McDaniel in Mississippi, for example, lost his primary to Thad Coch-a-Roach, partly due to people double-voting in both the Dumb-O-Crat and GOP primaries. I’m betting the GOPee was fine with that one.
And just this year, Daniel Webster narrowly beat Laura Loomer in the FL CD-11 GOP primary. Laura was ahead until, Lo and Behold, a drop of about 6000 ballots put Webster over the top. So, maybe another “Landslide Lyndon” moment there. FL is making headway in securing elections, but obviously needs to do more.
“wilson” and “politico” seem to provide a fun time when looking into the future.
