He has worked in federal security, he says, and he followed that by forming a nonprofit called All in a Days Work to address veteran suicides.
And then on May 24, a mass school shooting unfolded in Uvalde, Texas, killing 21 people, including 19 students.
Triplett’s children asked him if they had to return to school the next day.
“It was heartbreaking,” said Triplett. Galvanized by the moment, Triplett asked himself, “What can I do?”
Around the time of the Texas shooting, there were elevated concerns about school safety, said North Thurston Public Schools spokesman Aaron Wyatt. Some in the community offered to patrol school hallways and some asked if bullet-proof glass could be installed, he recalls.
Triplett decided to form Veteran Overwatch, essentially offering his services as a security guard. He wrote up a proposal and sent it to the city of Lacey and North Thurston Public Schools, he says, but did not get a response. He then took it upon himself about a week or two after the Uvalde shooting to stand guard near North Thurston High School.
Triplett said he is working with other veterans, but he appears to be the public face of the group.
When he is on watch, Triplett says he wears a bullet-proof vest, he identifies himself as part of Veteran Overwatch and he carries a pistol. He also has a service dog named Jade. Washington state has an open-carry law, meaning he is allowed to carry a weapon in public view. He also is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, which requires a background check, Triplett points out.
They need armed guards since you can’t hardly own guns in that state due to Governor Idiot the perpetual dictator
We need a lot more of this.
Seeing where local public LE is getting to be as useless as teats on a boar hog when it comes to these school shootings, this may be the best way to go from now on. Plus, being a private citizen, rather than a hands-tied LEO, may possibly offer some other advantages too.
The local cops will now try to charge him with something like grooming. The concept of a functioning republic in which citizens have both duties, as well as rights, is a threat to the police, a special militia.
I’m surprised that no one has lost their minds over Jade being a Pit mix.
[I bet she’s good backup, though]
He needs to lose the crap on the strong side of his plate carrier - or get a drop-and-offset rig for his handgun - or hope to hell he never needs to draw it in a hurry.
Wow. I wish more people would do this sort of thing. We need to bring the nation together. We should all be good with protecting our children. More of this please.
Lots of guns in Washington.
Most of those are likely in Eastern Washington.
“We need a lot more of this.”
Damn right we do. And not just at schools.

I don’t know about The Olympian, but since it’s through Yahoo, I can only assume that this is a doxing.
Looks like about 42% own guns. Higher than Florida. Oregon’s at about 50%, and I figure western Washington rednecks are about like western Oregon rednecks.
You can tell because she’s sitting on his foot. :)
We have to give a click to yahoo before we can click on the article itself.
Ain’t that the Pibble truth!
Boxers do that too.
