I don’t watch comic book movies - that means Marvel.
After Rogue One I stopped watching all the Star Wars movies (that was the last good one).
For the first time ever, I refused to watch the last Bond flick. I won’t be watching any of them going forward either.
I of course, won’t watch a moment of the Amazon bastardization of Lord of the Rings.
I’m far from alone in this. I simply ignore anything the Wokeratti infect and refuse to buy any products they endorse eg Gillette, Coke, major airlines, etc.
Imagine Michelle (Big Mike) Obama (or even US Health Secretary Rachel Levine) becoming the next Bond. That’s their goal. Nothing less will suffice.
One thing I like about the Bond franchise is that it is not oversaturated like Star Wars and Marvel.
I never took it like that. When Craig started playing Bond they did kinda start the storyline over. Perhaps because Casino Royale was Flemming’s first Bond novel anyway and was full of introductory material to introduce the reader to the Bond character. (As an aside I’d read that it’s for that same reason that in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Blofield didn’t recognize Bond’s face even though they’d seen each other face to face in a prior movie. It’s not because in that movie Blofield and Bond were being played by new actors Sevalis and Lazemby. It’s because if you read the Bond novels in sequence, it’s in On Her Majesty’s that Bond and Blofield first meet face to face).
Except On Her Majesty’s and until Craig, all of the other Bond movies seemed to be one continuous character played by many actors. Especially in references to Bond being a widower. Roger Moore’s Bond visits Theresa Bond’s grave, who in an earlier movie married Lazenby’s Bond and was killed. In a Dalton Bond movie Felix tells his new wife that he’ll tell her later why Bond doesn’t marry.

I grew up on Sean Connery’s Bond. He defined to adolescent boys what an ideal man was supposed to be: competent, unflappable, not giving up despite all odds.
And, naturally, that if we developed these qualities we might get girls attracted to us.

Geez Louise, I’m getting old. I rented that movie on Prime for a couple dollars late one night, napped thru most of it, meant to watch it again the next day, never did, forgot Bond died. I guess that’s how detached I’ve become from the series. I do remember the old DB-7 being completely destroyed in Skyfall.

James Bond is a fictional character, and what the movies made of him was already different from what he was in the novels. The alternatives now are to keep doing what’s been done for 60 years or try something different and neither is ideal. Bond will go out of copyright sooner or later — if Disney doesn’t get its way forever — and then anybody can do what they like with him. Bond and his creator were jerks anyway.
Eh, there was the same wailing and gnashing about Craig. Any time there’s a change to Bond all the whiners whine. And then they love the Bond. And then he’s had enough (Bond films suck to make), and the whiners get whining again.
Kind of funny though to have all this whining in “defense” of masculinity. You wanna be masculine? Don’t be a whiner.
The real question to ask is, "why am I watching this? Because it's a medium that used to be better and I haven't broken the habit? Is it because I have nothing better to do?"
Even the kids don't watch it - they're playing video games and watching online videos instead.
Be glad you missed the last Bond movie. It SUCKED. Bond cried a lot. Yuck
Just consider the name “James Bond # 007” to be the official name designation of the office held by various spies over the years.
Keeps the enemies guessing about him. After all, if the original production of Casino Royal(1967) can have several spied designated James Bond, why not now!
End of problem.
