Speaking truth to an idiot... it's about time.
The colonies were separate political entities. Regardless, her biggest point was 100 percent true. The nexus of black slavery was black slavers. How many American blacks know that? And how would that change their current victimhood perspective? The Woman King, the latest woke black movie, is as near a total lie about African history as is possible. Choose your battles.
Do you reckon those fact were "meaningless" to the human beings who British subjects were keeping as chattel slaves until the early 20th Century?
It doesn’t matter whether it applied to every place in the British empire. She didn’t say that it did.
According to my DNA I’m 2% North African. Those were the Barberry Pirates who made a practice of capturing White Europeans and selling them into slavery in the eastern Mediterranean for around 800 years.
Good, but not good enough is how not to think about history. Slavery was an accepted practice throughout the world until Britain (the West) welded a Christian mantle over the practice. Slavery existed in North America before Christopher Columbus was even born. Or are you going to tell me that the Native Americans never had slaves?

Here’s what I reckon. I reckon that you don’t comprehend the big picture. And for some reason you like to focus on the possibility that you can discount the great movements in history with little facts. Like I said, climb a little higher and you will see the forest. And you will also see how meaningless and mindless facts do not offer nuance, but only obscure the truth.
Realistically, that likely was because they'd have been faced with rebellion by native populations that supported slavery.
In Islam slavery is considered a reward for worship of Allah and some Islamic countries even to this day still have slaves. With all that oil money how about some reparations for that?
How about if all black folks voluntarily resubmit to slavery, under white folks?
Makes about as much sense
Thought exercise: (from Turning Points in Modern History) what if, instead of Colombus discovering the America’s, Ming dynasty Admiral Zheng He in the early 14th century had steered east instead of southwest with his 400+ ship with the purpose of projecting ‘soft power.’ We might all be practicing Confusisism today instead of Western Liberal values. And there’d certainly wouldn’t be any discussions re reparations. While the last 500 years hasn’t been without its travails, I think we’re better off as a continent for having been settled by Europeans. What might have been gives me the willies.
What a been better off for the United States England and any other country who bought slaves.
The British abolished the slave trade and deployed considerable naval resources to stamping it out. If slavery was still a thing for so long in other colonies, it was because abolishing crime doesn’t mean you are eradicating it. Britain certainly fought wars in Aftica against local chieftains who refused to abolish it.
The sad thing is that the democrats think he came out on top in the exchange. He and his boyfriends will all get a good chuckle over this when they get together on Fire Island this weekend.
He’s the creepy distant cousin at the funeral trying to cut himself in on grandma’s estate before the body is even cold.
People don’t know basic history. Britain did not invent slavery nor the slave trade, but were instrumental in ending it.
