Now that the walls are closing in on Donald Trump, the New York Times is ramping up its hit pieces on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The standard argument against DeSantis for president is that he’s “MAGA-adjacent” — he might not be Trump, but he’s just as bad as Trump. But what if we’ve already turned the corner and are arguing that DeSantis is worse than Trump? The current Republican is always worse than the previous Republican, after all.
Jamelle Bouie has an opinion piece in the New York Times on “What the Martha’s Vineyard Stunt Says About the Trump Wannabes,” and of course the focus is Trump-wannabe DeSantis.

Ron DeSantis “may be a more competent Trump in terms of his ability to use the levers of state to amass power, but he’s also meaner and more rigid, without the soft edges and eccentricity of the actual Donald Trump,” writes @jbouie.

So now the attacks against Governor DeSantis will ramp up?
Walls aren’t closing in on Donald Trump.
The narrative will be, if you thought Trump was Hitler, now DeSantis is really, really, really Hitler. The left uses the same old tricks.
The walls have been closing in on Trump for 8 years. It has only made his world bigger. Get a life, chump.
Ron DeSantis is a big meanie. /sarc
DeSantis seems part of the plan to wound and diminish Trump ahead of the Mid-Term Elections.
I don’t care I support Trump and if DeSantis wants to come around and made a speech that’s fine no need to fight but I want DeSantis to toughen up to more than shuffling illegals across state lines.
The flights need to go in a southward direction if you get my drift.
Same old game. When Trump is dead and gone, and DeSantis is president in, say, 2032, the New York Times will refurbish Trump as “reasonable” and “missed”. All retired and dead Republicans are redrawn as positive foils to the current “ogre” in the White House.
No, they are not and I don't agree with Jamelle's opinion of DeSantis either. I don't think of him as hard-edged at all. He simply doesn't suffer fools and that is in no way mean.
Ron DeSantis “may be a more competent Trump in terms of his ability to use the levers of state to amass power, but he’s also meaner and more rigid, without the soft edges and eccentricity of the actual Donald Trump,”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Good! I don’t want him to be my pastor. I want him to be able to kick ass and take names, and hopefully run out of ink very quickly!
Absurd!
Is this a joke?
Spot on! DeSantis is a favorite of democrat trolls. I wonder why?
Time us conservatives tell the leftists to take a hike (f.o.).
Trump or DeSantis. May the best man win. I support either or both.
I won’t tear one down to get the other.
You have the right attitude.
exactly
“The current Republican is always worse than the previous Republican, after all.”
LOL Some truth to that as far as how the MSM views it.
DeSantis is moving the cards around the table the illegals need southbound trips not cross the USA ones in the end.
He can made speeches endorse candidates Nixon did that in 1966 before 1968 when Nixon ran for POTUS a second time.
In the end I think the Governor should govern Florida mainly and cheer President Trump on, make speeches for candidates.
Not time for him to run for President not time.
so what. he is an individual. No doubt has alot of his own ideas about things. Novel.
Don’t ever trust anyone named Jamelle.
