Populist Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Akesson declared victory for the four-party bloc. He said his party would be “a constructive and driving force” in the work of rebuilding safety in Sweden.
He said it was “time to put Sweden first.”
The bloc that includes the Sweden Democrats — the country’s second-largest party — won a thin majority in parliament. Though a few votes were outstanding they were not enough to sway the final outcome.
While Andersson is personally popular, anxiety in Sweden has grown over high crime rates in segregated districts that are home to large numbers of immigrants who have failed to integrate into Swedish society. Some blamed her Social Democrats, who have been in power for eight years.

Actually, every country, acting solely in their own self interest, and not some globalist/Marist vision, would make for a better and more stable world.

Completely agree. By the way, Italy might have a national populist government after their upcoming election on the 25th. The world would be a much better and interesting place if all nations acted like and for themselves.
Taxes in Sweden will shock you.
Spain certainly will take Americans of Spanish ancestry. They will also take anyone with a steady income derived from foreign sources as permanent residents.
Portugal has an easier process but the same policy. My cousin, her husband and kids are Portuguese residents as of this year, and they own a flat in Lisbon.
Not just Sweden, but Italy also elected a more conservative government. The slogan should be:

Trump didn’t have a “Muslim ban.” That was the way The left characterized it but it was inaccurate, of course. The travel ban was not at all on all Muslim countries and of all the countries that were subject to the travel ban, most were not Muslim. He did place a travel ban on particular countries where Islamic terrorists were very active which had poor security that was inadequate to vet travelers.
Further look into the results -
the Social Democrats actually gained few seats.
What broke them was a collapse of their coalition partners - the Greens and the Communists.
On the other hand, Sweden Democrats gain mostly by getting votes from Moderates and other center-right parties.
Obviously, these were not right enough for Swedes.
SD used to be renounced on the left and right as some kind of extremists. The biggest thing from these election is the they gained respect.
Taxes in Sweden were high, but not a huge problem so long as the nation was ethnically and culturally homogeneous.
There was an "we're all in it together" attitude, so most people accepted high taxes as the price for cradle-to-grave protection, if not for themselves, then for their kin.
Few Swedes took advantage of the system. They continued to work, because that's what they did.
Muslim migrants have no connection to the Swedish people. They even hate Christians. Muslims are there to take and take, and not give back to the Swedes.
Israel also has a socialist welfare state (similar to those of Western Europe), but most Jews don't mind having a broad safety net for fellow Jews.
Socialism works best on a small scale, among a similar people (ethnically, religiously, culturally -- the more similarities, the better). Monasteries and convents work best, because they're so small. Then small religious communities (Amish, Hasidic Jews). Then small homogeneous nations.
The larger and more diverse the population, the more it devolves into an Us vs Them tribal competition for limited state resources.
