Down to the River to Pray - Alison Krauss (live in 2002)
I don't do this sort of thing, in fact I have never did in here on FR but it came on my heart that I should post this
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way
O sisters, let’s go down
Let’s go down, come on down
O sisters, let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol’ way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way
O brothers, let’s go down
Let’s go down, come on down
Come on, brothers, let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol’ way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way
O fathers, let’s go down
Let’s go down, come on down
O fathers, let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol’ way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way
O mothers, let’s go down
Come on down, don’t you wanna go down?
Come on, mothers, let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol’ way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way
O sinners, let’s go down
Let’s go down, come on down
O sinners, let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol’ way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way
Thank you.
Amen, May God bless you for sharing.
If you like Bluegrass music and an amusing story. Oh Brother Where Art Thou, is a great watch. Alison Crouse and Union Station her band did a lot of the music for the film.
One of the sweetest, purest voices I’ve ever heard. Just beautiful.
Oh brother where art though is based on Homer’s “Odyssey”.
Well, sorta.
Yes and very funny. I didn’t read Homer’s book but enjoyed the the film version enormously. Dan Tamisksi(sp) did the song man of constant sorrow, he’s a member of union station and Ralph Stanley did OH Death. Like I said, if you like Bluegrass music the show is enjoyable on a couple of fronts. Regards.
This makes two great videos today. Thank you.

Thank you!
Actually, although there’s a lot of parody in the movie there’s a pretty good rendition of the song in it.
Great wake up music! Thank you!
Now that is what the angels will sound like
I cannot begin to tell you how many ew Englanders had their ears opened to luegrass by that movie, myself included.
Thank you for your post.
This hymn is often used on our prayer vigil here at FR.
