Thank God the U.S. Is Not a Democracy
Red State ^ | 09/04/2022 | Mike Miller

How many times have we heard Joe Biden and congressional Democrats hyperbolically whine about a threat to “our Democracy,” 99 times out of 100 in reference to Donald Trump and “MAGA Republicans”; the other time when fearmongering about “the existential threat to mankind,” so-called “climate change”?

Should we tell them? Nah, let’s let them continue to make fools out of themselves.

Let’s be clear: When Democrats talk about “democracy,” they mean Democrat rule. They mean Americans should think what they’re told to think, believe what they’re told to believe, and do what they’re told to do by so-called “progressive” Democrats. Moreover, the Democrat Party is the most hypocritical group of people on the planet; their hypocrisy knows no bounds — but we’ll get to that in a bit.

Founding Father John Adams was very clear in his disdain for democracy as a form of government. In a December 1814 letter to John Taylor, one of the leading American philosophers of the liberal agrarian political movement — commonly known as Jeffersonian democracy, Adams wrote:

Remember, Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes exhausts and murders itself. There never was a Democracy yet, that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that Democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than Aristocracy or Monarchy. It is not true in fact and nowhere appears in history.

Alexander Hamilton wisely proclaimed:

Real liberty is neither found in despotism or the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments. Those who mean to form a solid republican government, ought to proceed to the confines of another government. As long as offices are open to all men, and no constitutional rank is established, it is pure republicanism. But if we incline too much to democracy, we shall soon shoot into a monarchy

And Thomas Jefferson, while not the author of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, as many believe, spelled out his distrust of democracy, as well:

The republican is the only form of government which is not eternally at open or secret war with the rights of mankind.

Jefferson recognized the “secret war that occurs under a democracy, a war for power and control. The secret war is fought in many political systems.” There is a reason Plato said, that “dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy.”

All of the Founders were explicit in their criticism of pure democracy, which is why they looked for solutions that led to what we now refer to as a constitutional republic.

A constitutional republic is a type of government in which there is democratic voting, but individual power is limited by the existence of a constitution that protects certain rights. In a constitutional republic, people elect representatives, and those people generally vote to make decisions or laws. The existence of a constitution makes it impossible for the representatives to create laws that violate people’s rights in certain areas.

The subject of that last sentence is more under threat in Joe Biden’s America than at any other time in modern history. Yet Biden continually lies about Donald Trump and “MAGA Republicans,” as he did in his Thursday night Darth Brandon tirade: “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are a threat to the very soul of this country.” Joe Biden is shameless, America — but you already knew that.

As opined by Daily Signal columnist Jarrett Stepman in an August 2019 piece titled, Here’s Why We Aren’t — and Never Should Be — a Pure Democracy, there’s “a strange assumption from some that democracy simply means ‘good things I like.’ Therefore, ‘more’ democracy — however that is defined — is inherently better than less.”

This leads to absurdities like slapping “democratic” in front of socialism to reframe socialism as something other than the failed ideology that it is. Slapping “democratic” in front of socialism doesn’t make the reality of socialism any better than putting “democratic” in front of fascism.

Ultimately, socialism and fascism have been mostly democratic expressions of the popular will, or “general will,” as French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau would put it. But these political ideologies, taken to their logical extent—with the eventual diminishment of individual rights and checks on power—end in tyranny. Socialism in Venezuela came about democratically, after all.

Oops. Joe Biden was unavailable for comment.

One of the best examples of the left’s idiocy when ultracrepidating [look it up; you’ll like it] about “democracy” can be described in three words, two of them hyphenated: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. As noted by Stepman, AOC, the noted expert on all things worthy of expertise, ignorantly launched into fellow congressman, Republican Dan Crenshaw of Texas, over the concept of democracy, after Crenshaw noted on Twitter that the Electoral College prevents pure democracy and that’s a good thing — in response to prior spew from AOC, in which the erstwhile bartender smugly said:

I see Fox News is big mad about abolishing the electoral college. So let’s talk about it. 1) If the GOP were the “silent majority” they claim, they wouldn’t be so scared of a popular vote. They *know* they aren’t the majority. They rely on establishing minority rule for power.

Needless to say, Crenshaw drove that hanging curve over the rightfield wall by a mile.

Abolishing the electoral college means that politicians will only campaign in (and listen to) urban areas. That is not a representative democracy.

We live in a republic, which means 51% of the population doesn’t get to boss around the other 49%.

Exactly correct.

But AOC, who has an awesome proclivity to say something even stupider when challenged over something stupid she already said, responded:

Well, it’s official: Republicans are now arguing that the US isn’t (& shouldn’t be) a democracy.

This is what they believe. From lobbyists writing their bills to sabotaging our civil rights, the GOP works to end democracy.

In reality, we have to grow it.

Um…

This, America, is where Joe Biden and the Democrats remain stuck in the mud of their own disingenuousness and lies.

Now, as to the hypocrisy of the Democrat Party, which I earlier suggested we’d ultimately get to, let’s use the Electoral College as a perfect example. If the results of the 2016 presidential election has been flipped between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, with Trump winning the popular vote and Hillary winning the Electoral College votes, would the Democrats — including Hillary — have continually howled at the moon about disbanding the Electoral College and instead electing presidents by popular vote? Hell no, they wouldn’t.

As the Founders perhaps foresaw, if America were a representative democracy instead of a constitutional republic, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston, all heavily Democrat, would elect every president in the foreseeable future.

You don’t think even AOC knows that, do you? [heavy sarcasm]

Pure democracy is two cannibals and a missionary deciding who is for dinner. It’s three men and two women on a deserted island deciding “sleeping” arrangements. Or how about 51% of the people deciding that the other 49% have to pay ALL of the bills. Yea....democracy. all that’s missing is a z where the c is.

ultracrepidating, I don’t get the meaning, as the dictionary is unclear. There are better words I think, but then again I don’t know what is meant by that word to find a synonym...... NOW I am tire. Flat, I mean.

For decades, I have been arguing to the undeducated, uninformed Americans: “Just recite the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag, read the Constitution and let me know where the word “democrat” or “democracy” shows up.”

It is obvious that those who swore and oath to the cConstitution never read it.

Here in the state of Washington we have mob rule in the form of referendumbs (my spelling) in the ballots.

They have brought us laws which ban animal traps (including mole traps), prevent illegal gun transfers (including letting your spouse shoot your gun for target practice), prevents the sale of gun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, etc.

But, but, but it's a Constitutional Republic!...

Haha! It will be whatever they want it to be. Who's going to stop them?
