A digital marketing firm’s CEO was harshly criticized on LinkedIn after he made an unforgivable cringeworthy post, to which he attached a selfie that showed him in tears as he announced layoffs.
Leadership!
The urge to virtual signal is incompatible with authenticity.
Somebody tell him there is no crying in corporate management.
To get online Boo-Hoo-ing like a 12 y/o girl who just got unfriended by Taylor Swift was laughably phony looking.
That’s supposed to make somebody feel better about losing their income? Gimme a break!
Feelings. Nothing more than feelings.
"Someone sitting at Nancy Pelosis desk makes me Adam Kinzinger cry more than 13 US vets being killed in Afghanistan and Joe Biden rewarding the killers with $87 billion dollars in US military weapons and tech"
Crying is OK - it’s rough to lose a business and to drop employees. The problem is sharing it with the world... that’s where it becomes a pity party.
When I was a part owner of a small company, there were paydays when I had to bring my own checkbook in to make sure there was enough that the employees' checks didn't bounce. Did the weeping CEO do that?
LinkedIn has become the FascistBook of the business world. It is thoroughly disgusting most of the time, absolutely infested with leftists. “Fag Pride” month was flaunted continually there.
And yet again, the internet proves it’s full of low IQ, low achieving individuals with low self-esteem who seek to puff themselves up by dragging down others. Most of those ‘roasting’ him show exactly why most of them will ever run a business.
Is the guy a puss for uploading a picture of himself crying? Yep. But the sentiment of his post is spot on. It sucks firing people. Part of running a business with employees is knowing that families depend on your venture to pay their bills. When a business grows to that point, it’s not just about you anymore. Your decisions affect people you don’t even know. When things go south, you’re not just screwing up things for yourself, you could possibly be dragging other people down with you. That’s a crappy feeling and I can appreciate where he’s coming from.
We have way too many digital marketing firms in the world. A couple thousand FEWER and our spam boxes would be happier!
Lots and lots of SPAMMING
LinkedIn is a cesspool and almost as bad as facebook and twitter.
Sometimes I wonder if people have ever gone through a layoff. After over 30 years of service at Kodak, I was laid off along with 70% of Research Staff. I had seen it coming and was prepared (as was our family). The odd thing was that my lab head was more upset about it than I was. I was tired of cleaning up microscope labs after water breaks. These tasks took weeks of downtime. My wife and I were always frugal and we had saved enough to augment my pension. Our cohort still gets together for lunch a couple of times per year. That said, it still messes up your head... I embraced the suck and work on projects that interest me. By the way, if your job is in doubt, I recommend Dave Ramsey’s show.
I remember Lee Iacocca taking $1.00 a year in salary for a few years. I mean, he didn’t starve or anything, but he did walk the walk without crocodile tears. The man was able to garner a bit of respect.
When a woke CEO lays off employees because he just doesn’t want to pay them, choosing profits over people, what happens to his company’s ESG score?
