The sheriff of San Mateo County, Carlos Bolanos, has come under fire for allegedly sending a four-man team to Indiana to raid the garage that produces Batmobiles as a favor for a friend who can’t wait for his order, as reported by ABC News.
“Your public money paid for the trip last week by the sheriff’s investigators – four round-trip plane tickets, three nights of hotels, meals, rental cars, and a lot of overtime, all because of a friend of the sheriff who can’t wait for his batmobile,” the news outlet reported.
Sam Anagnostou, a real estate agent from Atherton, California ordered a $210,000 Batmobile from the only builder licensed by DC Comics, Fiberglass Freaks of Logansport, Indiana.
The owner of the Batmobile production company, Mark Racop, claimed that Anagnostou was first on the list, but after he failed to pay a $20,000 payment Mr. Racop moved him to the bottom of the list and said that he needed to ‘wait a year and a half or two for his Batmobile.’
“He disappeared on me for over eight months, almost nine months,” Racop told ABC News after Anagnostou failed to pay the $20,000 payment. “He didn’t like [being moved to the bottom of the list], he exploded. He did pay off the entire car at that point, but he was absolutely livid to find out that his car was going to be delayed.”

How dare they step on the fib toes.
That builder needs his sherrif on speed dial if those JBTs return.
They were out of their jurisdiction and subject to arrest.
Typically arrogant California behavior to think that California cops have any right to do anything in any other state or country.
Meanwhile 10000 cartel members from Mexican, Mung, and mainland China take over park lands in northern California growing hundreds of acres of marijuana, but not to worry, any surviving law person could write them a summons for a $500 misdemeanor fine, if they were not so busy chasing down car people in other states.
MISAPPROPRIATION OF PUBLIC FUNDS - CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE SECTION 424
This story, as written here, doesn’t make a lot of sense. First, it indicates that California prosecutors/courts declined to get involved in the matter. But then it suggests that the San Mateo County sheriff/deputies showed up in Indiana with a slew of warrants. What judge/court issued these warrants?
Is Sheriff Sam Anagnostou on the side of the law, or perhaps a...Joker?

Imagine what Gruesome Nusome would do if he was president.
Warrants?
No jurisdiction...
“They were out of their jurisdiction and subject to arrest.”
Without addressing the merits of this case:
Police and Sheriffs can execute arrests and warrants outside their jurisdiction.

Did they produce warrants? Did they have permission from the local Sheriff?

Read my post!
Without addressing the merits of this case:
No, they cannot. They cannot go to another state and make an arrest. They have to get a local involved and file for extradition.
And they sure as hell cannot go to another state at will and conduct search warrants. You think NYPD can do raids in Texas or Florida as they please?
Nope.
Think Lubbock Texas police can fly into Manhattan or San Francisco and do a raid at a house? You are -way- off the mark.
Cops can get a friendly judge to sign off on warrants for the flimsiest stuff if they really want to hem someone up.
I would return the guys money, tell him to kiss my butt and he would never get the car.
If this is the only authorized creator of this product, I am sure there are others to take his car.
You are wrong otherwise CA, NY, IL... cops will be coming for your guns.

There are limitations which prevent those situations.
