New batches of the field rations will contain the only way to enliven everything from chili mac to cheese tortellini in a powder form.
As Julie Smith, senior food technologist for the Army’s Combat Feeding Division, told Stars and Stripes, that means those instantly recognizable miniature Tabasco bottles will be phased out by 2024.

Hundred bucks says Julie Smith never had to try and get through a tuna and noodles MRE.

I hated those... you couldn’t trade them off or nothing. It was just bad damn luck...

In Nam we’d take condiments from the mess hall to spice up our C rats in the field. We used C-4 to heat. No MRE’s in those days.

Remember those tobasco bottles from when I served in the 80s. Had no idea they were still around.

I have 1 bottle that I saved from the 1980s , it’s sitting on a bookshelf looking at me ,LOL
To: ameribbean expat
I always carried my own bottle of hot sauce. Those tiny ones were not near enough.

I heard of guys in Ranger school who would dab Tabasco in their eyes to stay awake.
When I was in ROTC, I saved the little bottles from my MREs and my GF at the time filled them with some colored water and made earrings out of them. They actually looked kind of cool.

Heck of a lot better than un-tactical, un-portable Russian field poison. Any of you readers who was a combat soldier (the routine patrol/ambush exercise kind) during the past 35 years will understand what I'm saying here.
RUSSIAN SOLDIERS eat this?https://youtu.be/iSMjtYnJidE Many of the Russian soldiers aren't even getting that. They're cooking civilian groceries from their trucks, when they have them and looting Ukrainians for their chow afterwards.

Tabasco sauce is just cayenne pepper diluted in vinegar. They dropped the vinegar and just give it like a salt packet.

People will just bring a bottle of their favorite sauce to the field with them. That’s what we did before MREs. Personally, I like Frank’s Hot Sauce much better than Tabasco sauce.

These kids today don’t even get cigarettes in their rations.

I just found my old Tabasco recipe book for C rations I picked up in Thailand back in 1969. I thought it had disappeared with the other souvenirs lost in the 1976 Tulsa Memorial Day Flood.

Oh that’s gonna go over big. Witch. And all the MRE menus suck now. No tuna noodles, no dehydrated beef patty or pork patty, no decent spaghetti... they have let millenial girls gay up the menu.

I like Frank’s Hot SauceMe, too. It has a milder cayenne/vinegar ratio so you can apply it evenly.
A few years ago I switched to Red Devil. It tastes just like Frank's, but it's only a buck-and-a-half for a 12oz bottle.
