All of the above rely on tech that can be patented. Even the closest thing to real food, gene-edited livestock will be patented. They're working on a terminator gene for laying hens that kills all the male embryos. As of right now, they have to kill off all the male baby birds because they don't lay eggs so they have no value.
With pigs, they're working on preventing a common disease. With cattle, they're working on overall performance and possibly reducing methane by genetically changing things that effect their gut biome/flora. All these things will be considered improvements by the industries so egg operations will jump on it. Hog operations will jump on it etc. Pretty soon it ends up like corn/soy with 80-90% of all livestock being patented.
It goes way beyond hybrid tomatoes, Cornish Cross meat chickens, various crosses of cattle or hog. Since much of it has to do with CRISPR Cas9 gene editing, a DNA test will easily prove ownership and "Food Traceability". https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Food+Traceability It's a coming thing.
With all things food having custom DNA and with food traceability being a coming thing, it would be easy for laws/regs to be made so that only the "new improved", climate friendly foods are allowed to be sold at retail stores. It's a Big AG/Tech/Pharma takeover of the food.
