Joe Biden on Monday told doctors and hospitals around the country that they must perform abortions in emergency situations if the mother’s life is in danger even if their state has a ban on the procedure following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade.
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade last month which means states decide their own abortion laws.
More than 25 states have ‘trigger bans’ – meaning abortion becomes illegal or severely restricted once Roe v Wade is overturned.
Biden threatened to issue fines and strip Medicare status from hospitals that fail to perform abortions in emergency situations.
"Today, in no uncertain terms, we are reinforcing that we expect providers to continue offering these services, and that federal law preempts state abortion bans when needed for emergency care,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra. “Under the law, no matter where you live, women have the right to emergency care — including abortion care.”

I’ve never heard of any such ailment.
Let the medical professionals do what they do…instead of attempting to direct their hand.
Planned Parenthood isn’t going to be saving any women’s lives by performing abortions.
Any medical situation to save the life of the mother will be performed by a medical professional, which they are already doing and will continue.
Only laws pursuant to the Constitution apply in the Supremacy Clause.
The hospitals would not fail to do an abortion in an emergency situation. What is Biden harping about?
What a moron and the morons who believe what he said. Hospitals have always had the require to treat emergency situations accordingly. An empty threat just to propagandize.
Says Fidel Brandon
This violates basic Contract Law, Separation of Powers and probably a few more I can’t think of.
Sorry very wrong Medicare pays well for in/out patient procedures, medicaid not so much, much lower payments. In 30 yrs of paying Medicare claims I have seen a total of 1 abortion claim, medicaid well way to many to count
A government who can give you everything can also take it away.
There is no end in sight!
So:
Bow down!... Obey!... Snitch!...
Stop rattling your chains, or else...!
Another reason for people to hate him even more than they do now.
They just LOVE abortion. Everything about it.
Biden’s been having a temper tantrum, stomping and making threats ever since the USSC announced its decision.
Spoiled, obnoxious children don’t like being told “no.”
The Commerce Clause does not allow the federal government to have human beings murdered.
The supply of houses to the market would be increased if renters could shoot existing homeowners dead.
“hospitals that fail to perform abortions in emergency situations.”
What hospital would refuse to perform an emergency procedure?! It’s between the doctor and the patient at that point. This is completely symbolic. Like threatening fines to any grocery store that doesn’t sell food. The leftists want the biden admin to do something and this is the only lame thing they could think of. Strictly designed to appease the abortion on demand as contraception crowd.
My guess is the next step will be for some ignorant leftist to get herself pregnant. Then run into the target hospital in the 16th month demanding an abortion because she’s having a mental meltdown that constitutes an emergency. Even then... at least the procedure’s being done in a hospital setting and not in the strip mall center next to the dollar store.
*An abortionist isn’t a medical doctor. Their “work” is the antithesis of the Hippocratic Oath all physicians adhere to since it takes a life instead of saving one.
Don’t have to deal w/medicare and get miniscule payments for procedures?
I’M IN!
“Abortion is never used by medical doctors*”
Exactly!
Thank you for clarifying my point.
This is exactly why government should not be involved in health care. It’s just another tool in their arsenal that they can use to enforce political policy.
