Former President Donald Trump issued a statement ahead of Arizona House Speaker Russell Bowers’ Tuesday testimony before the Jan. 6 committee suggesting Trump may have a recording of a phone conversation the two had in November 2020 about the last presidential election.
During the hearing, Bowers testified about that call and another he had in December 2020 with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Trump regarding holding a hearing at the Arizona Capitol to review allegations of voter fraud.
The speaker recounted to the Jan. 6 committee that he flat-out refused the request, given Giuliani’s hoped-for end game would be to replace now-President Joe Biden’s electors with Trump ones if fraud could be shown to the satisfaction of a majority of state legislators.
Bowers further stated that Giuliani’s team provided no evidence that led him to believe there might have been widespread fraud.
In a Tuesday morning statement Trump issued before Bowers testified, the former president said, “Arizona Speaker of the House Rusty Bowers is the latest RINO to play along with the Unselect Committee.
“In November 2020, Bowers thanked me for getting him elected. He said he would have lost, and in fact expected to lose, if I hadn’t come along. During the conversation, he told me that the election was rigged and that I won Arizona,” Trump added.
Bowers won his 2020 re-election bid by nearly 10 percent to represent District 25, which is in Maricopa County in the city of Mesa.
“He said he got more votes than I did which could never have happened,” Trump recalled. Trump said Bowers acknowledged that he would not have been re-elected without the 45th president’s rallies.
Trump concluded, “Bowers should hope there’s not a tape of the conversation.”

Remember the perfect phone call? Trump let Adam Schlitt play plenty of rope out before Trump produced the transcript.

The magical ballot was the ballot used by millions of Democrats to vote for Joe Biden.
Why was it magical?
Because it was a ballot that not only had Joe Biden on it it also had a bunch of other Democrats running for various offices. But magically, the only vote cast was just for Joe Biden and none of the other Democrats on the magical ballot.
It’s magic that based on all the millions of votes Biden received that all those Democrats down the ballot are not in office.......
The problem with producing a tape it is will tell people that there are tapes of everything, which will make them subject to discovery of about any type.
I do not like, not trust, Rusty Bowers.
The actual plot to steal the election was mostly Democrats, but the Republicans are all in on the coverup, because they know they should have stopped it.
Rather than explain to their constituents why they sat there and did nothing - it’s much easier to just lie and say it didn’t happen.
It’s the same reason rape victims don’t testify against their attackers - they feel ashamed and would rather keep it secret and pretend it never happened.
Imagine being a Republican legislator from one of the swing states like PA - your constituents want to know why you let the Democrats steal it. The media calls you a conspiracy nut if you believe it was stolen. The Justice Department might even indict you for inciting an insurrection if you call the Biden administration illegitimate.
The easiest thing by far is to just go along with the fake news narrative that there was no fraud, that Trump is just a sore loser.

It’s been a year and half already. If there was fraud, why haven’t we seen actual proof, evidence, brought to court, lawsuits, etc? Trump has raised millions of dollars to fund this, and still nothing.

That would be a loser strategy. Leverage in the hand, produced at the right moment to do the most damage.

To claim that everything, and everyone is in such a large conspiracy to deny Trump an election win, including a huge percentage of his own appointees, life long Republicans all claiming otherwise, under oath, or pleading the 5th is crazy. Put up or shut up.
Rudy was quoted as saying, we have lot’s of theories, but no evidence.
Why would he produce it now?
If Trump has {or doesn't have} a tape, he'd do what he just did, tease.
Nope. The smart move would be to hold onto such evidence until needed as defense in a criminal case. Making such a recording public at this time would allow the persecutors, (oops, prosecutors), time to manufacture countering evidence. This is a long defense play. Make the other side worry about the possibility of exculpable evidence that will impeach the witness.
We will have to agree to disagree. Anyone who could make that statement is not going to be convinced by evidence, affidavits, or scientific analysis. You might ask yourself why:

He testified Tuesday, under oath, in public hearings about Jan 6, along with other Republicans, who campaigned and voted for Trump, and said he would vote for Trump again should he get the nomination.
