The commenter in the pic says Lake City is not a civilian production plant. While true, Lake City ammo has long been available thru civilian sellers, right, although currently hard to find? I may even have some.

Now I hesitate to disagree with the esteemed "tally whacker," however I would like a little more information about where he is getting his information.

I searched Olin and Winchester websites with an emphasis on military ammo. They don't differentiate among their 3 plants what each plant manufacturers, howeve as you can see Winchester manufactures M855 for commercial markets.

By the way, from the Winchester website, none of the 3 Winchester ammo plants manufactures M855A1 enhanced performance round. They do manufacture a M856A1 tracer with an orange tip.

But then again, tally Wacker could be correct. He has a lot on the line with regard to his reputation. I mean he certainly wouldn't want to be wrong and embarrass his good name.

What is “civilian ammo”? I can buy Lake City surplus ammo that was originally produced for the US military, like any other citizen in a Free State. Let’s not give the Left any ground by talking about “civilian ammo.”
