Establishment Republicans are a middling lot who have attained and retained their side of the Capitol Hill power dynamic by ostensibly doing the least amount of work to further the agenda of the right while acting like a sieve against the unrelenting pressure of their progressive opposition.
So, as the RINOs of the party slide toward the left courtesy of the Overton Window, it only seems appropriate that, where Democrats so often have their own past statements raised to dispute their current posturing, Republican leaders would get slammed for straying from conservative values by a gun-grabbing ideologue.
In 2019, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) had his eyes on a 2020 presidential bid and chose to stand out from the pack by declaring himself “the only candidate proposing that we ban and buy back every single assault weapon in this nation.” Later that same year he touted the need for the kind of red flag laws that 10 Republican lawmakers just agreed to help fund, and defenders of the Second Amendment are making certain to slam those senators for their obvious betrayal.
“Did you see this promise from a leading Democrat that he would use ‘red flag’ laws to silence conservative opponents?” Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter asked, tagging Republican Sens. John Cornyn (Texas) and Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) while retweeting Swalwell’s post from 2019 where he called The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro a lunatic for supporting the right to self-defense.

For the first time in 13 years, the Court upheld both privacy and gun rights, this time unanimously.
(Full explanation at link)
Caniglia v. Strom’s 9-0 decision has the potential to create lasting effects and set precedent as powerful as was DC v. Heller in 2008.
The reaffirmation of both privacy and Second Amendment rights should give pause to advocates of red flag laws.
Posing as defenders of public safety, red flag laws bypass the Second and Fourth Amendments while simultaneously abolishing due process.
If Caniglia v. Strom teaches us anything, it is that the government cannot justify itself around the Fourth Amendment to invade private residences based on fear or gut feeling.

sleeping with the enemy is not a crime if you are a dem
makes sense when you realize the dem is the enemy
BTTT!
Looks like that is what the dims want to use red flag laws for. To use them on any republican that doesn’t go along with their ideas.
Last night, Tucker Carlson said SCOTUS has already judged Red Flag laws unconstitutional.
