“SpaceX Starlink terminals are playing a key role with Ukrainian forces for coordinating artillery fire, aiding UAVs to drop munitions, helping commanders pass orders, and keeping soldiers in touch with their families. “

“Another important aspect is that many Russian EW systems are used to locate communications sources for targeting. It sounds as though they can’t locate Starlink systems very effectively. This war might have been very different without them.”

It shows a change in Russisn tactics. The original idea of shock and awe, using massed armor flopped badly thanks to Javelins, Arty, drones, and good observation and coordination. Now it seems the Russians have decided on a grind it out tactic using their arty and air while advancing with their infantry. Drone missiles are much less effective against a platoon of infantry than they are against a platoon of tanks.

In this modern technological era, tactics must change. The era of armored land fighting vehicles and naval surface combatants is over. The Russians are paying a high price learning this lesson and are apparently changing tactics. The big question is what has our politically correct military learned from this war?

••Russian Occupation Administration
Donetsk Region: installed new governor came from Russia. New Russian officials from non-military background from industry, construction, trade and one was a regional vice governor in Russia. The new governor was originally from Ukraine.

He’s totally loyal to Russia, hailing from Dnipro region. What Russians don’t understand: the two regions (Dnipro and Donetsk) were intense rivals. Political elites were always fighting negatively with each other, no matter where they rose to power - Kiev or Russia. From regional perspective he not seen as ‘their’ person.

Zaporizhia Region governor switched sides to the Russians.

Kherson Region - member of Parliament and from Ze’s political party switched sides. Arranged meeting with local farmers and invited Russian deputy head of Russian President’s Administration, Kiryenko(?) in power for 20 years. Message sent to media: this region is now part of Russia for good, so no worries. Taking (stealing) grain from Kherson region to Crimea is boasted about in Russian media.

Quite a bit of problems in Ukraine leadership an politics with defections to Russia; this is openly discussed. Even some in UA military are quietly working for Russia.

••Another Russian poll 75% support Putin’s war in Ukraine. Not fair or unbiased poll.

No update tomorrow, WiU will be traveling.

Russia has just inked the deal for basing rights in Nicaragua. Plans to train freedom fighters there, I guess Javalins are going to be handy.

“The 🇺🇦 MoD has officially confirmed that Ukraine has received land-based Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

We don’t know the exact version, but I guess that it must be Block-1C or Block 1G. The range of 75 NM will be a deterrent against 🇷🇺 surface assets.”

We’re I the Russians and had confidence in my company COS, platoonand squad leaders this is what I would do. Launch recon drones with comms to battalion and lower. Locate Ukie strong points and front line command centers and attack with mortars. Mortars are mobile and land with little warning and using them lessens the Ukies ability to eavesdrop on Russian comms and makes counterbattery fire more difficult. If the Russians are willing to make continuing small gains using mortar fire guided by drones and infantry maneuver they could nullify the Ukie advantages from the modern arty . Create a continuous close quarter small unit combat.
