U.S. Supreme Court officials are ramping up their search for the source of the leaked draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade.
The nation’s highest court has taken a slew of actions since the leak, including requiring law clerks to provide cell phone records and sign affidavits, according to CNN.
A draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito was leaked to Politico earlier this month and it set off a firestorm on social media.
“Some clerks are apparently so alarmed over the moves, particularly the sudden requests for private cell data, that they have begun exploring whether to hire outside counsel. The court’s moves are unprecedented and the most striking development to date in the investigation into who might have provided Politico with the draft opinion it published on May 2,” CNN reported.
“The probe has intensified the already high tensions at the Supreme Court, where the conservative majority is poised to roll back a half-century of abortion rights and privacy protections. Chief Justice John Roberts met with law clerks as a group after the breach, CNN has learned, but it is not known whether any systematic individual interviews have occurred,” the report added.

Why do all the clerks need legal protections? Are all the clerk's of these liberal judges guilty? Have they all been leaking stuff? Why is this only just happening now? Wasn't the leak weeks ago???
Step 1) get them all on the record, under oath with their denials first - Step 2) drop the hammer of lying under oath to a federal official when they inevitably find the leaker. 3) Throw away the key.
It only took the what - THREE WEEKS to think of looking at phone records?…
..our “best and brightest” at work folks…

You would think anything “illegal” would be on a throw away.
Has there been any ongoing investigation? I’ve heard virtually nothing in the media about the investigation into the leak.
I would have expected certain crabby though “wise” Latinas to have recused herself from this issue of concern by now.
What do they mean they were asked for phone records.
If the Marshal’s want the records, they get a court order and get them from the service provider with any other information they request.
They don’t get them from the clerks.
Everything about everything is so eff’d up, now.
These people, Republicans-Democrats-Liberals-Conservatives, have screwed everything up so bad that there’s no way to know which way is up anymore. Everything is done to provide smoke and mirrors to appease one side or the other and no one is held accountable.
The whole Durham thing is a perfect example.....the key evidence is tossed by the judge and not a thing will be done about it.
Hell they used the hellary hammer on them…no consequences for rats…c’mon man…
I expect the report to come out a few days after the one about the cause of the fire at Notre Dame but still a while ahead of the one about the investigation into the Las Vegas Shooting.
Same. Not a word. I am still guessing its that one guy who already had a relationship with the reporter.
This will take more than 78 days.
I've said it from day one: if this "investigation" is unable to turn up anyone it means the leaker was Roberts, who controls the investigation and has intentionally hobbled it.
All the ones who didn’t do it could give their records exposing those who won’t give their records, Doesn’t prove anything immediately as some may have principles against unconstitutional search and seizure but still didn’t leak the draft opinion. But it would narrow down the numbers.
Hopefully they have been working on internal networks which are more susceptible to being scrubbed clean (like with a cloth? Cackle!) while realizing that the phone company records are harder to erase. If the Supreme Court has a secure network, it should log who prints, emails or even opens files. Since this was a draft they should be able to nail down which version was copied and therefore when it happened.
Start the investigation with the clerks who are alarmed.

Democrats protect their scum - and so does 'the press'.
If the leaker had been conservative the perp's name would have been given to the Washington Post by the next morning. Scum protecting scum - the DC way.
