I read that in WW2 the federales confiscated food stores from rural people in Texas claiming that it was hoarding.

I do not recall where I read it so I cannot make any claims as to its accuracy. But I would not be in the least surprised to find it to be factual. These same bureaucrats made owing gold and silver a crime.

Each of my kids went thru college proving they can eat a nutritionally balanced and caloric sufficient diet at 30 cents to 40 cents per day. (Yes they stole the half and half coffee creamers for their oatmeal).

Nothing teaches the value of a dollar than a good famine. I went through three years of fishing at night off of the bridge in Florida and robbing neighborhood citrus and mango trees to get thru school. The Holiday Inn had a free happy hour buffet too. Just become friends on the beach with an old couple on vacation. They love to feed hungry starving students. You get the buffet or a steak dinner at the Elks Club.
