Senate Democrats on Thursday introduced an ambitious new gun control legislation that would require all Americans to obtain a Department of Justice (DOJ) license with a 5-year limit before purchasing a single gun. The new bill would also give the government the power to confiscate guns if the license is revoked.
This new legislation was introduced by Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn).

The bill also authorizes “procedures to ensure that any firearm is removed from any individual when the individual’s license is revoked.” Confiscated firearms would only be returned to the owner if the license is reinstated.
The Attorney General could deny a license for numerous reasons, including if the applicant has a “history of drug or alcohol abuse,” has “any recent acquisition of firearms, ammunition, or other deadly weapons,” or has a “history of unsafe storage or handling of firearms.”
Additionally, the legislation would make it illegal for “any individual to sell or otherwise dispose of a firearm to a person” unless they report the exchange to the Attorney General.
Last month, Biden released a statement calling on Congress to pass gun control laws.

Years ago there was a report that up to a third of the firearms in Germany were registered. Think about it. A third.
The balance was assumed to be brought in from Eastern Europe and the Balkans, specifically Serbia. My guess is the illegal guns aren’t double barreled, $80,000 pheasant hunting shotguns with pretty engravings.

The typically proposed answer is to make possession illegal. Therefore, if you get found with a gun not only does it get confiscated but you go to prison and lose your right to vote.
Funny thing, several decades ago I was going on a remote assignment. I hid several guns. It wasn’t until years later that I found them while moving. I’d completely forgotten about them. So, even if I’d complied with some government edict to turn them in, as happened in Australia, I’d still be guilty of a felony and sent to prison. (They were all .22’s and I haven’t practiced with anything less than a .380 in years and years, so I’d forgotten them. Since even the .380’s have been long retired. I was going to use them as wall hangers but decided against it.)
The only way this will stop is when Senators and other legislators proposing this are arrested and convicted for conspiring against civil rights.

The government and media have been very clear about their belief that black people are too stupid to be able to figure out how to get an ID, so obviously this proposed law would be racist right from the start. But presuming we can get over that hurdle, I see great promise for this law. Imagine all the gang bangers who will suddenly, in the middle of planning a drive-by, suddenly go, “Aw Cuz…I can’t do no drive-by tonight…my damn license is expired!”

That would create the mother of all unintended consequences. Might as well put the weapon to its constitutionally-intended use at that point, rather than go to prison. And they think it’s hard to find people willing to be cops now?
China NK, Iran and Russia should flood the hoods with lots of automatic weapons, RPGs, grenades …. Kind of like what we did to Mexico. Talk about the summer of fun. Nothing quite like a hot 4th of July with RPG-7 in the thousands. Everyone has them in the ME. Libya had tons of stuff that HRC / Obozo let lose in the years after.

Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire are pro second amendment states.
These states had Constitutional Carry before Texas did.
Maine also legalized switch blades when they passed Constitutional Carry here seven years ago.
