Police said they believe Jeremy Theron Smith committed a hate crime when he shot three women of Korean descent.
Jeremy Theron Smith, the man accused of shooting three Korean women in a Dallas hair salon last week, had delusions about Asian people attempting to harm him, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.
Smith faces three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Wednesday’s shooting, according to jail records. Police are also investigating whether two other recent shootings could be linked to the attack at the salon. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
The shooter had ‘delusions’ about Asian people.
In an interview with detectives, Smith’s girlfriend said he had delusions about Asian people since being involved in a car crash about two years ago with an Asian man, the affidavit said.
Any time Smith is around an Asian person, his girlfriend said “he begins having delusions that the Asian mob is after him or attempting to harm him,” according to the affidavit. He was fired from a previous job for “verbally attacking” his boss, who was Asian, the girlfriend told authorities.

'....delusions about Asian people...'
Hate crime, racist shooting, when will Brandon show up?
I was just saying “Do I need to look?”
Clearly I didn’t.
What drugs do to you
This will go right down the memory hole.
We can’t do anything until he kills somebody first. That’s the law. A Mayor Rudy would have employed his stop and frisk policy here using asian cops.
He doesn’t even have much hair.
I hadn’t heard of this shooting before this morning.. so for me, it was born in the ‘memory hole.’ I assume it didn’t make headlines because none of the Korean women died.
I think it was Orin Hatch who was debating Jessy Jackson on gun control. Jessy was taking the usual “the-guns-are-the-problem” and gun control will solve the issue. Hatch responded with: “If we don’t count murders done by black males between the age of 17 and 35, the US would have a lower murder rate that Switzerland.”
Jessy response: crickets...
> This will go right down the memory hole. <
Yes. But first somebody in the media will note that Trump is at fault here. After all, his calling Covid the “Wuhan Flu” turned people against Asians.
(I’ve actually seen that argument made in past attacks on Asians.)
They tried really hard to blame Trump. I heard a representative for a new Leftist group on NPR really, really trying to blame the clear black on Asian crime on Trump and his wanting to tie China to covid. Then more and more mug shots and vids came out showing black men beating or killing innocent Chinese. Their pathetic, outraged group went down the memory hole. These people should burn in Hell.
He’s likely delusional about the wrong Asian people.
The communist Chinese..which he is likely more philosophically aligned with.. want to do him harm.
Not the hard working family oriented Asian American citizen.
His delusions caused the Jan6 event in D.C. huh Joey OH WAIT he’s the wrong color media winks.
The government and media will still continue to tell Asians that their greatest threat is from White Supremacists, not Backs.
Funny, I stay in a predominantly Asian area when I visit family in San Francisco - and they are nothing but friendly and nice - not a one of them has crossed the street when he/she sees me walking with my very large White son.
Honestly, this “hate crime” DELUSION has to stop. Should have zero to do with punishment.
As it is, I’d argue if the man actually had delusions that yellows were after him, can it really be called a “hate” crime? Wouldn’t that maybe just be mental paranoia? Paranoid defense?
Didn’t show up for the subway shooting.
Won’t even talk about the CA shooting (esp. since the Taiwans acted in self-defense heroically).
Actually this article, along with the interview of his girlfriend and next door neighbor, appear to be laying the groundwork for an insanity defense.
Paranoid schizophrenia. He will get off on a bogus insanity plea.
All I know is he needs to have a date with the needle in Huntsville.
...and don’t wait 15-20 years to do it!
