The federal mask mandate on planes, trains, and public transportation never was about “the science.” It was about politics.
No wonder then that U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of the Middle District of Florida tossed the mandate in a 59-page ruling Monday.
The Department of Justice will seek an emergency stay but in a way, it doesn’t matter. The toothpaste is out of the tube. Once you’ve told mask-resistant Americans they don’t have to fog up their glasses when they fly, it’s over.
If the mandate had been about science, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would have followed the Administrative Procedure Act and conducted notice and comment procedures to examine the real-world consequences of the Feb. 3, 2021, rule.
Experts would have welcomed the input of stakeholders who would have had a chance to voice concerns and suggestions. Tweaks could have been made. Instead, it was an edict.
“The flexing of administrative power,” attorney Glenn Roper of the Pacific Legal Foundation called it. Last year, Pacific Legal won a challenge against a CDC-ordered nationwide ban on evictions — another power grab because of COVID-19.
There was a time when COVID-19 was new and unknown. The public understood why bureaucrats might overreact — better safe than sorry.
Two years later, it’s hard to show faith in a bureaucracy that hasn’t even bothered to distinguish between mostly-for-show masks and more effective face coverings, such as N95s. Compliance apparently was the goal.
A chart by Ian Miller of the Brownstone Institute compares caseloads in states with and without mask mandates. Essentially, the chart shows no significant difference between states with or without mandates.

At Mass on Easter about 1/5 of the people in our sanctuary wore masks. A week later and a judge’s ruling and I only saw 3 people wearing masks and they were all relatively young.
Most in our church haven’t worn masks in months.

It is not enough to accept this abuse as a fraud and move on. If the perpetrators are not punished they will abuse us and steal our rights again and again. They all need to face justice and pay for what their evil acts.
Anyone notice a sudden rash of unattended unexpected deaths in the local obits the last couole of months, people in their 30s, 40s, 50s.
People who aren’t croaking from the latest bad batch of whatever to hit the area...

In our congregation we have one young woman that comes to worship with two children, both in the 6-7 y-o range. A few months ago all three wore masks and maybe 15% of the congregation were still wearing masks. Now virtually no one has a mask including this woman. However, she makes her kids wear masks. Unbelievable.
The masks are the the hardcore libs MAGA hat.
Political, social and moral one-upmanship over your detractors with added benefit of forced compliance.
I watch Youtube videos and they run Amazon Fresh ads in pretty much every video channel I subscribe to.
The actors in front and in the background are all wearing masks.
Notwithstanding the section of the statue they used for the mandate is for procedures on cleaning toilets and stuff.

I’m in a small home church and except for 2 people no one has worn a mask since we started back up for over a year and half ago. I wear my 3m 6000 shop mask and a hat to buy lottery tickets.
In the airports today, it was mostly WOMEN who were wearing masks.
I remember when questioning the efficacy of masks got one banned on Facebook, Twitter, Next Door Neighbor etc.
I think you gotta pay money not to see ads.
