The newspaper owned by the second richest man in the world actually claimed that the Internal Revenue Service needs— wait for it — more money.
The Washington Post Editorial Board published an extraordinarily tone-deaf piece the day before Tax Day 2022 headlined, “The IRS urgently needs more money and staff.” The Post fretted that “there’s a lot more at stake” than Americans scrambling to meet the tax filing deadline. The Post wrote that the IRS “is currently limping along without enough staff or funding. Congress, especially Republicans, needs to face up to reality.” The Post, of course, then made the issue partisan: “the core problem is that Republicans slashed the IRS budget about 18 percent in the past decade. That’s not belt-tightening, it’s gutting an agency.”
It is blatant hypocrisy for a billionaire-owned newspaper to tell readers that the IRS needs more of their taxpayer money. Post owner Jeff Bezos, worth $179 billion, can voluntarily donate a few of his billions to the U.S. government if he wants.

I know they’re understaffed, I just 2 days ago received a replacement refund check for a client who died three years ago. This after 4 separate “We need another 60 days to replace the check we know you’re entitled to” letters. Which only came about because I waited over 40 minutes to talk to somebody about it. I’ve been waiting on this one check for over 2 years so I can close the estate.
How about: the IRS desperately needs a simplified tax code so the current staff can handle the work load.
How’s bout someone remind the ‘President’ that everyone sitting at home waiting for a gov’t check ... means, no one is paying taxes
They are woefully understaffed. Still waiting on my 2020 Unemployment Tax Refund that should have been sent out a year ago.
Apparently the amount of anti-depressants consumed by IRS employees is mountainous. Working at that place destroys your morale. As it should. IRS employees should be shunned by all decent people.
My guess is the delays are due to the numbers of paper processors who are still out due to their CCP virus concerns. I recall in Feb when the great mumbler said something about returning to work. Of course they had the example of those two fags in a maternity bed too. Why work when the checks routinely come.
How about we repeal the 16th Amendment and we won’t have to worry about the IRS, their man power problems or April 15 ever again.
Bezos could donate the money to the IRS.
Libtard owned operated produced employed and excreted 🤪
Vomit in vomit out
IRS management is not only stupid, but lazy. It is shameful they can’t process the handful of paper documents they get now. When I worked for the IRS 40-50 years ago EVERYTHING was paper. There was no electronic filing. In spite of the population increase and the growth of government, i bet they have only 10% of the paper we processed every year. The current perfumed princes of the IRS don’t want to break a sweat to earn their generous salaries and benefits which are at least 400% of what I made “in the old days”.
The Washington Post is a joke.
Yes, the WashingtonPost is a joke... and not a particularly funny one either.
I just paid more than $2600 to those turkeys. They don’t need more money.
