The Battle For Donbas Will Be A Tough Fight For Ukraine
19FortyFive ^ | 4/16/2022 | RET LT COL Daniel Davis

Why the Battle for Donbas will be very different: While the world nervously awaits the opening salvo of the Battle of Donbas, many in the West are optimistic. Others believe that the exceptional military performance demonstrated by the Ukraine Armed Forces (UAF) in repelling – and then driving out – Russian forces around Kyiv, will reprise their effort and again blunt Russia’s offensive in the Donbas and eventually outright win the war.

Mean time, western aid flows in and tanks captured by the Ukrainian Army get refurbished and put in the line.

What's really helping is the West supplying those compressed 5-gallon diesel pills that fit 200 to a bread box.

Just add 5 gallons of diesel to each pill, and you've evaded having to have fuel dumps and storage areas that the Russians can target.

Ukraine will do the same, then have to give the Donbass provinces their desired Independence, then lastly go begging for a decade for US taxpayers to rebuild his country…10 percent to Joe of course.

Kherson is going Russian [administratively & in other ways] - which means that Odessa is next on the spit.

There’s been Russian invasion and war in Ukraine since 2014. Only the willfully blind couldn’t see it the past 8 years.

Russia is setting up Russification and reeducation camps for Ukrainian teachers in Crimea because “Donbas was really the target all along.” Ridiculous assertion of course. The real target here is the Ukrainian nation. Putin has stated clearly many times that Ukraine is an illegitimate. We should believe him when he says that.

Putinists never stop gaslighting in support of Russian mass murder and genocide in Ukraine. It’s always Ukraine’s fault. Always. And Russian war on Georgia, Moldova, etc. Always the other guy’s fault there, too.

hat's crap. Prior to the invasion, virtually every western government and analyst predicted Ukraine would fall in just a few days

You're clueless. The Russians went in soft. They went to wipe out neo-Nazi bastards, which they have Maniupol. And, the liberate Donbass from eight years of war after Ukrainians reneged on Minsk Agreemment.

The original goal was to surrender the bulk of the Ukrainian army in Donbass and force a surrender. Kiev was a diversion to keep the other Ukrainian troops in place.

But, the Biden regime doesn't give a damn about Ukrainian causalities and insisted they face the slaughter that is coming if there is not a surrender.

You're simply ridiculous, unrealistic propaganda from the same sources that lies about everything else. And, the rest is going to be more DEAD Ukrainians and less of country left after its all over.

The goal of this all along by globalists and neocons was to harm Russia and cause a regime change because Putin won't play ball with the "new world order". These don't give a damn about Ukraine or democracy. If they cared democracy, they wouldn't have let the Taliban takeover Afghanistan.

I'm going to remember this post, smart ass. Because those 60,000 troops are still surrounded and out of fuel and stuck there. Even the mainstream media is even reporting the battle is about to go down.

You're completely ignorant about what's going on.

The Russians are going to control the Donbass region, Crime and most, if not all, the coastline when this all said and done. Enjoy!

———— A fact our MSM war cheerleaders leave out. Having worked in Moscow, I have kept tabs on it. The Donbass provinces declared their independence from Ukraine in 2015, the Minsk accords, signed but the Ukies never honored it. The Ukies started shelling the Donbass and have not ceased.
I suspect Vlad will walk away from the negotiations ( wars always end) with the Donbass, due to the Minsk agreements, both sides will declare some irrational win, then the next war will break out.
Two sides to every conflict, don’t get sucked in by the Ukie and western MSM cheerleaders.
Everything Vegetable Joe does is corrupted, evil.

Exactly, hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately, vegetable head Biden and the Ukie MSM war cheerleaders are not reporting everything, just Bad Vlad, war, war, war…..
As word of Meriupol has fallen, it will be interesting who Vlad and Kadyrov has captured….I will monitor the Russian, Indian and Bulgarian news agencies. There was a reason the Ukies kept sending in aircraft to try and evacuate some one in Mariupol, all were shot down…..my suspicion, US or Azov personnel.

“A-10s are not as effective as the internet portrays and would likely be shot down quickly by modern Manpads, Buks, 30mm cannons, and others.”

I don’t rely on the internet, which is iffy for reliability, anyway. Anything that flies stands the risk of being shot down.

“The so called Hwy of Death long attributed by media and internet savants to the A-10 was untrue. The after Battle assessment did not even credit A-10s. It was F-16s etc that did the lions share of the damage with their bomb runs.”

I wasn’t even thinking about the “Highway of Death;” rather, I was thinking more about the field tactics employed by the Iraqi armor in the desert. The A-10 did quite well in that arena.

More wetworks by our Ukrainian allies against their own citizens

“Ukraine sealed the civilians in basement with cement as hostage. If Russia bombed Ukraine army with missiles, the civilians would be buried with them. This video shows the Russian army smashing the cement board after driving out Ukraine army and saving the civilians.”

I keep reading that the Maidan thing was an American/McCain/CIA operation but is there any proof of it. Not arguing just wanting to be well informed.
Could it have just been a case of the two halves of the country wanting different things? The eastern part wanting closer ties to Russia and the western half wanting closer ties to Europe?
Sometimes things are just that simple.

“...The Donbass rebellion was triggered when people refused to accept the coup that replaced their govt and political reps after the 2014 Maidan uprising, engineered by the USA”

Is there any credible proof that the US engineered the Maidan rebellion? Not arguing, I would just like some proof before I go convicting our government of fomenting rebellions in other countries.
Not that they’re not capable.....

As far as the Russian language thing, I can understand one language per country. Before it’s over I expect the US to have a multitude of “official” languages like English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and on and on.
A single language unites, multiple languages divide imvho.

As far as Zelensky, I know about the Kapo’s from the concentration camps. George Soros is another.

As for atrocities, who do we believe?
We KNOW Russia lies, I’m pretty sure Ukrainians are capable of telling a whopper or two. So how do we know who, if anyone, to believe?

Oh - so all the Western governments and analysts claimed prior to the war that Ukraine would win?? I think you're the clueless one if you actually believe that.

Russia had no right, period , to intervene in either Crimea or the Donbass>. Under the terms.of the 1994 Budapest Agreement signed by Russia, it had to respect the borders of Ukraine that existed at that time. And there was no exception for "we can intervene if parts.of Ukraine decide they want independence or to join with Russia.

Putin has been blunt about this. His written essay last year essentially said that Ukraine was a fake country that didn't have a right to exist. To the extent Ukrainians feels differently, and are willing to fight against him, I hope we flood them with as many Russian-killing weapons as they want.

There may be something to that.
The Soviet Union killed the Ukrainians by the trainload and moved Russians in to take their places. Maybe the results of that are playing out in Ukraine today.

Lots of propaganda is coming in as News in the west—and being swallowed wholesale. The new “War Crime” is the term Geocide. If Russians wanted to just kill all Ukrainians—they would have targeted the civilian targets first. Where are the firebombings like Tokyo? or Dresden? Not only that—the Ukrainians were giving out arms to civilians to fight the invaders—making civilians targets! There are no innocents left. As Napoleon once said “War is the Business of Barbarians.” And Sherman observed simply: “War is Hell.”

Mariupol is done. It’s just a mop up operation done. The entire Donbass region is in control of the Russians.”

Almost a month later and they are still “mopping up”
The ENTIRE Donbas is in Russian hands?

BWHAHAHAHHAAH!!!

Gee seems like you have scaled back your predictions. So its now Donbas, Crimea and maybe some of the costs.... A month ago you said:

“3/26/2022, 6:27:04 PM · 3 of 48
Kazan to Zhang Fei
The only thing to be decided is if Russia takes control of just the eastern half of the country, two-thirds of it or all of it.”

Bwhahahahah!!!

This article makes the assumption that Russian soldier morale will be/remain high and that they are competent in method/equipment. We have seen repeatedly throughout history that Russia is neither.

Russia’s equipment (including their newer equipment) has been shown to be junk (again). We have seen Russian armored vehicles with tree logs for “armor” and homemade “cages” on top of tanks to “deflect” missiles. We have seen Ukraine capture dozens of Russian vehicles due to dead batteries and flat tires. All of this is highly pathetic. The incredible corruption in the military and oligarch-controlled industry has left them wanting. Meanwhile, Ukraine is being armed to the teeth by advanced Western machinery. Now Ukraine is getting big artillery guns, helicopters, and Reaper/Kamikaze drones. They can hit Russia harder than ever suddenly and quietly. Russians are in for a nasty surprise.

This article appears to suggest that it’s just Russia vs Ukraine blindly going into battle. I believe that NATO/Europe/US is providing Ukraine with extensive intelligence regarding Russian troop movement and equipment/supply areas. There is simply no way all of Ukraine’s successes in hitting so many Generals/supply lines/etc. is due to pure luck.

All Russia has ever shown competence in is bombing cities to the ground and shooting everyone in sight. There is more pain for both Russian soldiers and Ukraine, but I think Ukraine is on strong legs, while Russian legs grow weaker.

No dog in the fight, have never seen more propaganda in my life. Am believing that Ukrainian troops are losing and screwed. Despite western propaganda’s efforts. It’s another European war, go figure.
