The CNN+ paid streaming rollout is such a hot mess that the service can’t even get viewers to take the free trial — and star anchor Chris Wallace is throwing daily tantrums.
The schadenfreude is delicious.
CNN had been told by high-priced consulting firm McKinsey that by charging $6 monthly or $60 annualy they could expect two million U.S. subscribers in the first year, and that the domestic subscriber base could grow to 15-18 million in the first four years.
As “Iowahawk” David Burge quipped on Twitter, “Oddly, there seems to be very limited demand for high powered consulting firms who tell clients their stupid ideas are stupid.”
Just how stupid?
Two weeks after its launch, CNN+ struggles to draw 10,000 daily viewers.
And most viewers are still in the free trial period.
Axios reports that CNN spent around $300 million launching the subscription service, “which includes a sizable marketing investment.”
Marketing to whom, one might ask, after looking again at those miserable viewership numbers.

Another model............................
What was the pitch? The network of sex scandals, the Cuomo boys, pedophiliacs, and low-budget partisan propaganda wants your money!
CNNpus
Several weeks ago they dropped the price to $2.99 and I think that was a permanent figure for those who sighed up for it.
Apparently, it didn’t work.
Question: Well, did their check clear?
Consulting Firm: Yes, no problem. Money refunded if not satisfactory. However, all the money we’ve received has been quite satisfactory!
Worst prediction since Putin was told (allegedly) that Ukraine would surrender in three days
Chrissy Wallace is going out as the failed son of a commie.
That will be his legacy. Failure and neo-communism.
I sincerely hope rich liberals pour money into their, ideological holes.
Inflation they caused, will destroy their supporters.
And “that is no loss and their lives are no gain”.
paraphrased Pol Pot.
McKinsey told CNN executives that FoxNews viewers would welcome Chris Wallace as a liberator.
I'm amazed how McKinsey is still in business with all of the old tired ideas they have passed along to businesses that soon crater.
1. Company A get a great idea
2. McKinsey steals that idea
3. McKinsey turns idea into multimedia presentation
4. McKinsey goes around and sells ideas to hundreds of stupid companies who can't come up with their own ideas
5. By the time the other companies implement the idea it is no longer useful
Rinse and repeat
And BTW, if Discovery Channel adds CNN then I'm dropping Discovery like a hot potato. Unfortunately I'll need to be committed to a padded room to kick my true crime show addiction.
He claims an audio audience of over 80 million "listens" a month... I am featured on about 5-10% of those podcasts... (never counted them, based on a remembered 5 year history... YMMV.
Trump’s fault…..….
Don’t worry, I’m sure the DemonRats will compensate CNN via ‘Covid Stimulus’ funds.
McKinsey’s modus of operation is to tell management what it wants to hear and charge what management is getting paid. Pretty simple.
10,000 people actually paid for it?
Seriously? When your Netwerk lies to the world every freaking day, through doctors offices, airports, cable television and not to mention the latest and greatest FIRST social media war that’s going on in the Ukraine, you have the audacity to ask why nobody tunes in? Hokaaaay CNN karen.
Any one of us Freepers, could have and DID predict this, and I would have only charged 4.95!
All the world’s airport tv subscriptions will save their ass in the end.
