Mark Wahlberg Breaks Ranks with A-List Hollywood (Big Time)
Hollywood in Toto ^ | 7 Apr 2022 | Christian Toto

Hollywood’s biggest stars use every pulpit possible to send a message to the masses.

Save the planet
Vote out Trump
Defeat “Don’t Say Gay” legislation
Black Lives Matter!

That’s just a small sample.

One topic rarely comes up during these moments, though, even if it impacts virtually every star in the Hollywood galaxy.

Cancel Culture.

Some celebrities do address the issue, either directly or indirectly. Think Bryan Cranston, Ricky Gervais and Bill Maher.

Members of the unofficial A-list, however, stay mum on the subject. Some, like Scarlett Johansson, have been directly impacted by the toxic trend but quickly apologized rather than fight back.

Others, think Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt and Dwayne Johnson, would rather avoid the topic entirely.

Enter Mark Wahlberg.

The rapper turned movie superstar is on the promotional circuit for “Father Stu.” The fact-based drama casts him as the title character, a ne’er do well who turns his life around by embracing Christ.

“Mark Whalberg a ‘movie superstar’ hah, I think not. He’s B-list at best. Just because they make a lot of cheap movies with him doesn’t make him Marlon Brando.”

It’s a shame. He can act and had a run of some pretty great performances in the early 2000s.

Then he stopped taking risks. Generic action films. Most of them straight-to-streaming. I’m sure he is getting paid, but he could do much better.

I would hold praise until you see the movie. In his last movie to portray a conservative christian, Joe Bell, he painted us a simple minded dullards. It was condescending and insulting, giving the Hollywood left the stereotypical “deplorable” as a sympathetic victim with a miserable family and life, and “flyover country” in general as miserable, simple and poor.

“He seems to be one of the few good guys in Hollywood.”

He has a past he would rather go away. Not the rapper, artist part.

Kudos to his victim for maintaining his steadfastness over the years

Really, and where on the internet is “the” definitive list of “A” and/or “B” actors?

Regardless, he’s a great actor and person…glad he’s spoken up!

The Shooter was OK, but it doesn’t undo the unforgivable The Happening, which is in my top 5 worst movies ever. He’s had some good roles. I thought he and Denzel Washington were fun in 2 Guns. But he also does PC crap like Deepwater Horizon (which he also produced).

I missed “Deepwater Horizon” and also passed on his “Lone Survivor” and “Patriots Day”. I didn’t need to watch those...knew the sad endings. I may’ve seen “The Happening” or another similar movie with that plot. I tend to bypass ALL movies nowadays that have a “man is killing Mother Gaia” theme. H’wood can keep those...won’t be getting my $$$ for that garbage.

Side note... I watched “The Siege” last night with Denzel, Bruce Willis and Annette Bening. Moslems blowing up New York City, FBI trying to solve the crimes, CIA operating in the USA, the US Army declaring martial law and taking over NYC. It all seemed so...real

I had a problem with the Shooter movie. He is shooting a .50 BMG with his dog a couple feet to the side of the blast vent. Woulda blown half the fur off the dog and busted his ears.
