Prince was one of those performers, that even if you went to one of shows without ever hearing a single song of his before, you would come out of that concert totally blown away.
I just hunted that up.
Amazing.
Yabutt he does play well with others.
Commendable.
Wouldn’t you like to have a good visit with the historian, in the news clip...who helped confirm it was him??
What a treasure!!
That’s what happened to me. I was shocked at his guitar and how he ruled that room. A sight to behold.
Kinda channeling a little Jimi there.
Not one for crying when celebs die but I teared up for him.
I gained a lot of respect for him after watching that halftime. Dude could have easily been electrocuted on live tv in front of millions (billions?) of people but played the gig as if he wouldn't get paid if he didn't finish it. I'm sure there were plaintiff lawyers with stiffies all over the country watching that.
Indeed.
To this day, “When Doves Cry” chokes me up.
/I remember back when MTV actually played music.
His 2007 Super Bowl halftime show in a driving rain was one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Epic.
Here’s a link to the performance....amazing.

Can you imagine being one of the Florida A&M University band members, who got to ‘jam’ with him??
Will have to look for that documentary. Thanks.
I like this comment....on his NFL halftime performance vid I posted...
No lip-syncing. While dancing. While shredding his guitar. While singing. In the pouring rain.
The Beatles and the Stones was press bullshit. They were all friends with each other. I do think they both inspired the other to bring their “A” game when it came to studio sessions.

Pure balls and commitment.
As a contrast, back in 1980, Edgar Winter came to the fairground with a bunch of other bands, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Exhile, and such.
Came out onstage, played 5 notes of Frankenstein, stopped, said the sound system sucked and walked off without apology, flipping us off.
Prima donna.
It was a damn hillbilly fairground.
Was he expecting Carnegie Hall??
Never liked him after that at all.
We all paid good money for that show.
I saw Alice Cooper first time at the York County fair.
Rigged up stage, grandstand seating with a fairly smallish crowd, hot as hell with cows and goats screaming in the background.
Played like he was in Madison Square Garden.
You either love it or you don’t.
Stones first hit in Britain was a cover of Lennon and McCartney’s “I Wanna Be Your Man”.
The Stones were slightly later to the table than the Beatles. But they did their own thing.

That was amazing. I never saw it before, so I have to watch it, again.
I notice Prince is a spunky kid in that video, but his personality was subdued as an adult. (JMO)
But he would speak his mind.

I think his baby dying and then later, his girlfriend, may have affected him.
I think his baby dying and then later, his girlfriend, may have affected him.
I remember that, and losing a baby/child is a horrible thing. Same thing happened to Keanu Reeves. His girlfriend had a stillborn daughter, and months later she was at Marilyn Manson’s house, and pumped with vicodin, and ended up in a horrible car accident resulting in her death. Her mother tried to sue Manson, but lost.
Both of them seemed/seem to keep to themselves. Not looking for Hollywood approval or publicity.
PS you're right!
