The German city of Cologne is considering dropping a depiction of its historic Christian cathedral from the city’s logo. Some have criticised the proposed change and called for residents to speak out against the city government.
The local city government has stated that it will be producing a new city logo that will not include Cologne Cathedral, well-known for its massive height of 515 feet and status as one of the largest Gothic-style churches in Europe.
According to the government, the logo is changing because the 20-year old current logo is supposedly too complex, with a so-called brand analysis alleging that it is “Unfashionable, old-fashioned, bulky, [and] emotionless,” newspaper Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reports.
While a new logo is officially just a proposal from the city government at present, a spokesman for current leftist mayor, Henriette Reker, claimed that the change of the logo had already been decided upon and the government would not change their minds on the rebranding.

Cologne was on my list of places to visit one day, but I’ll take it off my list now that I know their main attraction is unfashionable, old-fashioned, bulky, and emotionless.
Perhaps more muslim refugees will make the city even awesomer
Sorry, but they meant the logo, not the cathedral.
Still, I like the older logo much better. The cathedral is, after all, THE symbol of the city of Cologne and its two millenia of history.
However, there was one mistake by a commenter on Breitbart: the throne of Charlemagne from the 790s is in Aachen Cathedral, not in Cologne (sorry for being a know-it-all).
emotionalness??? lol!
I guess I can see how a leftist could look at something so obviously grand and beautiful that way.
Getting used to their warped view of life.
Wouldn’t it more appropriate to replace the two steep cones (in American: “Grand Tetons””) with the image of a bottle of Old Leather?
The fee from that after-shave company might help the town’s budget....
To be fair, that description was of the city logo being replaced that includes the cathedral... My sense is that is how the ‘woke’ mayor views the cathedral, why I used it for the caption...
I’ve been inside it. It is a wonder.
Cologne is the richest Catholic diocese in the world. Sometimes they use that wealth as a lever to allow bad behavior.
OMG. What the hell is wrong with these people??
Cologne Cathedral ( Kölner Dom) was a navigational landmark used by allied pilots flying in and out of Germany during World War II. A famous tank battle was fought in front of the Cathedral between a Tiger and Pershing in March, 1945. (The Pershing won.) The Hohenzollern Bridge, just to its east is the most important bridge in Europe. During the tank battle, Wehrmacht troops were evacuating east over it. The Wehrmacht destroyed it the next day, something Allied bombers had been unable to do all during the War. Its destruction had serious implication for the post-war German economy.
“Unfashionable, old-fashioned, bulky, [and] emotionless,”
Been there — felt nothing like that description upon viewing the Cathedral and I’m not Catholic. I just appreciate a sense of history, culture, and architecture, as well as the physical skills it took to build it.
This logo foolishness reminds me of what happened here in Tulsa a few years ago in a “re-branding” that included a new logo. One of the driving reasons for the change was the use of the capital letter “T” as a central element of the logo with sub-elements within a circle surrounding the letter. The anti-Christian forces were loudly proclaiming the use of the “T” was government advancing/endorsing a specific religion due to the similarity to the Cross.
Bishopric of Cologne was one of the powerful and prestigious in all of Europe. The Archbishop was an elector for the Holy Roman Emperor and held precedence over everyone except the Emperor. The church and the cathedral is the reason anyone cares about Cologne
(It's interesting that when the Allied air forces wanted to preserve something, all of the arguments being made that indiscriminate bombing was both necessary and inevitable suddenly disappeared.)
It is missing the crescent moon on top. Isn’t it a Mosque now? It’s ground zero for the rapefugee invasion.
It angers their new muzzie overlords.
And to think that was built by hand without power tools, combustion engines or even electricity.
Still hav not seen an official final report on what caused the Notre Dame fire.
Have only seen speculation and preliminary reports from shortly after the blaze.
