Personal computers are what to use for all the rest of it -
email, texting, video chat, web browsing, playing music,
reading/posting on FR, plotting the trajectories of
inbound & outbound ICBMs, etc....

I’m a Luddite who agrees with you.
We see so many errors from people using phones to post; lots of times people don’t even see entire emails on their phone, because they ‘assume’ they’ve seen all they need on the first ‘page’; and I even prefer an old fashioned desk-top - don’t know how anyone really WORKS on a laptop.
A couple of decades ago I was very excited about the possibility of technology to give people greater freedom and security.
That dream is stone dead—Big Tech and Big Government killed it.
I am a Luddite now.
I miss my Nextel phone, it was great.

I haven’t had a land line since the early 90s nor a cell phone since 2018.
I don’t even know what an “app” is, nor do I care.
I have the same set of rules. Not only that, I don’t own a Shop Smith. Each separate woodworking machine has its own motor.

Hubby is a retired Physicist, and is so over high tech. I’ve been digging through drawers to retrieve his old flip phones so see which of them can be reactivated with Verizon. I’m sure that one can but will check on the others.
