New RV shipment data from the RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) February 2022 survey of manufacturers revealed demand for this time of year is at some of the highest levels ever.
RVIA said total RV shipments last month topped 53,722 units, an increase of 11.3% compared to the 48,286 units shipped during the same month last year. RV shipments jumped 13.6% through February versus the same point last year with 107,012 wholesale shipments.
Red hot demand for RVs continues through 1Q22, well above a ten-year average.
“Our latest shipment report shows the RV industry is continuing its strong start to 2022,” said RVIA President & CEO Craig Kirby.
“While the pandemic has had an impact on people’s desire to purchase an RV, our data shows the increased interest in RVing is being driven by changing attitudes around the increased importance consumers are placing on the health benefits of getting outdoors. We expect this trend towards an active outdoor lifestyle to continue into the foreseeable future, which bodes well for the RV industry,” Kirby continued.
We correctly pointed out last July, “Strong Demand For RVs Expected To Roll Into 2022”, and that’s precisely what’s happening as the virus pandemic has redefined how people travel. Forget dangerous cities where violent crime is soaring, Americans want to travel the great outdoors, and by doing so, they need an RV.
I will never buy another. The Starcraft we purchased was junk. got to use it 3 times in 3 years we owned it. once when we were taking it to its new owners. Never again.
“You get what you pay for with RVs. They arent built to be lived in for more than a few days.”
My sister and her husband have been living in their 5th-Wheel for 2 years now. I actually visited them and stayed in their RV for a long weekend at Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World and had a blast. Three of us were in there and I was not overwhelmed.
Now, you are correct, in so far as I was ready for the comfort of my home after that amount of time, but mostly due to sleeping in their spare bed, not their master suite.
RV’s have come a long way. Here is their model: https://www.jayco.com/rvs/toy-haulers/2021-seismic/
I believe that.
From watching the Walking Dead, everyone knows that having an RV is a critical must have after an Apocalyptic event.
Lot cheaper than current home prices. At least where we are.
My wife and I and our 3 big dogs have been living in a 32 foot travel trailer since last September while our home is being built in NW Montana. With a few modifications we made it through the winter OK. We had a crooked contractor and had to take over the build ourselves. Its been a challenge but we shall overcome!
no doubt there’s many people getting rich these last two yrs...just look at govt workers...never missed a paycheck...
Like everything, there clearly are different levels of RVs and some, really are not designed or spacious enough for most people to want to live in all year round.
It depends on what works for you at the moment. Are you young? Have a lot of stuff? Kids? Pets? What can you afford to buy? What level of quality do you have to have, minimum? Space requirements? Fuel issues? Can you afford to maintain it?
Travel Nurses often use an RV to go to their assignments on the cheap and bank the per diem.
Elkhart/Goshen area RV companies are starting to reduce production. Some are working 4 days/week. Some down to three.
I have a mobile home park on my delivery route that has RV’s in it as main residences, some having been there longer than me. I’ve been there 15 years.
Beautiful picture.
Stick your Snowbird with your ttude up your @ss. There are good brands out there but most are not meant to be lived in. But then wtf would I know after living in Trucks and rv camps in oil fields of South Dakota?
Wow!
*Smooch*
Have you ever asked any of them about plumbing, electrical, heat/ AC and other issues that have come up? People do it but stuff goes wrong faster than it does in conventional and mobile homes.
Looks great but how well is the heat, AC, toilet, shower, sink and so on built? Things get real after a couple of weeks or so.
