My father , known to his mates as Rick Fox, faced Japanese bullets in the last major battle of Word War Two and saw his friends die on the beach at Balikpapan in July 1945. They did this for freedom.
His father before him, Arthur Clampett Fox, was, as oral family history leads me to believe, one of the first people in Australia to speak up against Hitler's mistreatment of the Jews in the 1930's.
My mum's dad, Ralph Blanchard, campaigned strongly for the united Nations as an answer to totalitarianism in the aftermath of World War Two.
When I tried to commemorate that in modern Maribyrnong, I was arrested by the police and dragged before a family violence court to protect a female politician from doing her job. (https://freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity.com/2017/11/08/freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity/)
I believe the intentions of my forebears were right but many things have gone terribly wrong in modern Australia since those much more religious and simpler times.
I will still do the best I can in my own way to stand up today for the basic values of those men whose lives sired me.
God Bless Freedom.
I say to myself that I was lucky to be not down under during the chicom induced virus.
thank you mate
If you feel like you’re fighting a losing battle at times, join the club. Around 1980 I said to my old man ‘you know dad, it won’t be two blokes kissing in 20 years, it will be two blokes marrying”. He laughed and said ‘not likely’. On his death bed years later he held my hand and said ‘ i never thought it would happen, but you were right’. When he passed, I thought about how things had changed so radically in the culture. Mostly for the worse. And the plunge continues. We , conservatives hold back the flood for a little, but often we get stabbed in the back and betrayed on social issues by those we put in power. Sucks!
I knew men who fought with Aussies in WWII and Vietnam. Not a bad word from anyone one them. I’m sorry it’s hard times. If I ever have to go in harms way again. An Australian is damn fine with me. Regards.
When you auzzies gave up your guns you gave up your freedom.
Enjoy your Bed.
I said yes there are concealed gun laws in Texas, and then they stated that they will be staying in their rooms.
I feel sorry for Australia.
