The UNC School of Medicine just released an “update” to its lengthy Task Force to Integrate Social Justice into the Curriculum Report. According to the school’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion web page, “the UNC School of Medicine appreciates the Task Force’s work, its feedback, and recommendations,” and this status report “includes important context relative to those recommendations.” Ironically, the document is notable for both how little it says and how much it reveals about DEI at the UNC School of Medicine (SOM).
Some background. In November, the Martin Center published my article titled UNC School of Medicine’s Quiet “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” Revolution, which reports on the Task Force’s many recommendations. At the time, a tracker on the SOM Task Force webpage listed every recommendation as “On Time.” This was troubling because even without any elaboration, many of the recommendations flirt with violating academic freedom. They include “Revise Promotion and Tenure Guidelines to include a social justice domain required for promotion” and “Directors of all phases will begin to examine and change content as needed to include anti-racist concepts as defined in the objectives.”
The report’s long elaborations of these recommendations go even further, calling on the school to require faculty to “adhere” to certain “core concepts.” One of those core concepts: “explain the difference between sex and gender and how specific organs and cells do not belong to specific genders.”
In January, The College Fix also reported on the Task Force report, linking to my article and highlighting the report’s many troubling edicts. After the Daily Wire and the Blaze also picked up the story, School of Medicine Dean Dr. Wesley Burks responded to the public pushback in a brief presentation to the UNC Board of Governors.

What the Nazis did to the Jews, Democrats will do to us.
ie) that penis staring you in the face on the operating table might belong to a "woman."
“Kill whitey” will now be taught at medical schools.
Just what we need, incompetent people being given medical degrees in the name of “equity”.
“Social Justice” has nothing to do with justice.
Medical school students aren’t kids. It’s worrisome if they buy into this stuff.
In my judgment this is largest crisis facing medicine. There are medical student and resident groups on Twitter of social media that genuinely believes they have the right to practice medicine and should not be required to be subject to standard examination.
There are some particularly vile creatures who announce that being a person of color with some bizarre sexual identity entities them to practice medicine. They refuse to acknowledge the notion of the learned profession and fail to understand that a physician earns the privilege to practice bases on years of training and successful demonstration of competency on multiple types of examination.
My specialty board has inundated its diplomates over the last year wirh numerous surveys querying about how to make our specialty more inclusive. Funny thing is I have never had a patient care about my race, color, orientation or anything.m but will i take care of them, keep them safe and help heal them.
This is scary and ridiculous all at once.

Can a baby born with a penis and testicles give birth to a baby when that child becomes an adult????? IF NOT,that baby is a MALE.......
F$&ked up country
A friend who is tenured at a top US university has been ‘forced’ to change how he teaches the 400 student Bio101 lecture due to the minority mob who now have power over a tenured teacher. It’s either teach the biology of reproduction according to scientific fact or be subjected to an all out public attack organized by the LGBTQ+ mob. This elderly professor must choose his health (pre-existing condition) or give in or quit that which he loves to do—teach!
First and this is a genuine question if he is tenured wouldn’t it be difficult to remove him? Secondly, the Good Book tells us over and over again that we will suffer standing up for the truth. Or as Mother Theresa said…be frank and honest. In doing so people may cheat you. Be frank and honest anyway.
It is possible that by being honest — your friend maybe cheated out of his job. He should be honest anyway.
As mother Theresa concludes… for in the final analysis it has always been between you and God. It was never between you and them, anyway. I wish that all things honest and true were rewarded with just outcomes. They unfortunately are not. But if we remain unflappable in telling the truth, then it will drive those who are wrong either by deceit or ignorance crazy. For the truth always pierces the untrue. No matter how much noise the untrue makes.
You’ve raised a good point, not only a moral one, but also an epistemological one, i.e., the destructive effect on the faculty of reason by evading the facts when teaching scientific knowledge. It may be awhile before I can have a serious conversation with my friend on this topic. I will reply on this thread after I do.
