That is an excellent point - we are funding our own destruction. We fund cultural rot through subscription services - they get the cash whether or you watch or not. Ratings don't matter - you subscribe, they get the cash and they can make whatever they want to affect / damage culture. Commercials may be annoying but they can only make money if people are actually watching.
