There’s been a shift in Washington. The talk is no longer about sanctions on Moscow but how best to escalate U.S. involvement in the war.
The day after Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky addressed Congress, the American press was understandably filled with paeans to his courage and leadership, his clarity of purpose and firm resolve in the face of mortal danger. As Bari Weiss noted in a thoughtful response to the speech, Zelensky knows what he’s fighting for, and he stands as an inspiring counterexample of things we hope for in our own political leaders, but do not have.
But there is something else behind this celebration of Zelensky. His speech, after all, was a rather straightforward request for the United States and our North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies to intervene on behalf of Ukraine. “In the darkest time for our country, for the whole of Europe, I call on you to do more,” he said, invoking Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
He backed off, a little, from his repeated pleas for NATO to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, and instead pressed for fighter jets and long-range surface-to-air missile systems — military aid of a kind that would be unprecedented, and would arguably bring the United States and NATO right up to and possibly over the line of belligerence.

Mindlessly is the key word in this article, The US has no leadership with a keen mind.
I would like to recommend that Americans sit this one out and let the liberal Snowflakes of the World with their boycotts, Batman movies and diplomas fight this one.
We are being manipulated, I hope people can see that.
How true! But there's always room on the establishment bandwagon for a few more rubes...
Even some of our esteemed colleagues on this list can’t see that.
As the polling data continues to be bad for Dems, they seem to be coming to the conclusion that war is their only chance to gain in the polls. If you couple that with the fact that the deep state is just aching for us to be in a hot war, it’s a no brainer for the people in Washington who don’t really have much of a brain anyway. They’re more reptilian.
Those cheering for US involvement in Ukraine, but not necessarily US troops, better start getting used to the idea of the US military being all-in against Russia. Cause that where the globalists & billionaire western oligarchs are dragging us.
The support here for Ukraine has been depressing. Nothing good will come of it.
It’s a direct result of the neo-cons allying with the political left to defeat Trump.
I don’t think they do. It is what is implied in the ‘I stand with Ukraine’ stuff. To stand with Ukraine means to defend them and that means to war with Russia.
The is is mindlessly doing everything… that’s what happens when your executive is mindless
“The support here for Ukraine has been depressing. Nothing good will come of it.”
I haven’t seen this many loons since the W. worship days. Those ghastly “Day in the Life” threads, etc...
No. No. Russia is marching toward war with us. We didn't do anything.
Two long years of covid crap (mandates; lockdowns; forced masking and other forms of obedience training) have softened formerly proud and free American women and “men” to such manipulation ... which has become the SOP of politicians and even more powerful unelected bureaucrats throughout our divided, still-irrationally frightened nation.
What the US should be aiming at is enough escalation to make clear Putin will not gain his objectives in Ukraine by military means combined with realistic peace proposals for a cessation of hostilities, withdrawal of Russian forces to the previous demarcation line and phased withdrawal of sanctions to sweeten the deal
But I wouldn't underestimate the ability of the "Biden" junta to eff things up.
