The difference is that even then the halls of DC were filled with Commie miles and traitors.
I doubt that Moscow and Peking are filled with those who are secretly working for D.C.
Because at that time, the cold war was in full progress and the issue of MAD was forefront.
Different mindset altogether.
BTW, that conflict was brought to you by..France, and the treaty signed after WW1.
All present conflicts in this modern day world are a result of WW1. All of them.

They sure did, and we knew all about it. Hell, there were even some Soviet pilots flying missions for the NVA, but they were described as “volunteers” and not members of either the Soviet or Chinese militaries. We went along with the fiction because we did not want a cry for escalation.
BTW..did we threaten war with Russia in the 60s? To the extent of nuclear exchange?
Do you realize how very close that came? Most people do not.
And before you call me a liar-which will come, no doubt. My brother was a specialist bomb loader (cant remember the name for those specialists) in a remote airbase in FL during that crisis. And yes, the weapons he helped load were in fact those types of bombs.
