There are new reports about U.S. special forces operators who are doing “operational prep of the battlefield” in Ukraine.

Seth Harp, an investigative reporter and contributing editor to Rolling Stone, revealed the JSOC operations on Sunday.

“US special operators are currently on the ground in Ukraine doing ‘operational prep of the battlefield,’ according to a well informed source,” Harp reported citing a ‘well informed’ source. “The military unit is JSOC’s Advance Force Operations, including members of Delta Force and SEAL Team 6.”

The developments are concerning to Americans who want to avoid entanglement in a foreign war, but Harp cautioned readers not to necessarily presume this is an “escalation.”

While your analysis of Putin’s motivations is excellent, there are many motives and they are not mutually exclusive.

Oil & gas? Yes. But also 80% if Putin’s pipelines go through Ukraine.

The greatest motivation of Putin was the CIA overthrow of Putin’s puppets in Ukraine and the growing anti Putin protests in Moscow.

Putin saw how the color revolution was spreading and he was the next Muammar Gaddafi.

Justifiable paranoia.

“. . . . . but, there isn't such a thing as a tactical small nuclear weapon. A nuclear weapon, no matter the size, is still a nuclear weapon, “

You have no idea what you’re talking about. US Navy (Surface Forces) has a ton of tactical nuclear weapons. How do I know? Because I used to load them on ships at Seal Beach Weapons Depot in Southern California.

This is what I mean when I say that there’s a ton of posters on FR nowadays (suddenly) that spout nonsense - like you.

You make statements that definitively state what Putin and what the rest of the world will do - your technical knowledge is wrong and you accuse others of “buying into the panic porn” when actually it’s you that buys into it.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. US Navy (Surface Forces) has a ton of tactical nuclear weapons.

You continue making the asinine mistake of distinguishing between small nuclear weapons (tactical) and larger nuclear weapons.

A low-yield or small nuclear weapon is still a nuclear weapon. The usage of it in a war, no matter how small or large the war, doesn't make any difference. Once a nuclear weapon (small or larger) is used, the conversation ends, and the whole world will know it as a nuclear weapon, and the user of that weapon can expect major responses from the world. A nuclear weapon that kills 5 people will still be designated as a nuclear weapon, same as a nuke bomb that kills 5 million.

It's about the word "NUCLEAR" and not about them being small or large or tactical or any other designation.

Get it!!!

The scale of war changes as soon as a nuke is used, and your insistence that it might be 'tactical' vs major, does not compute in the minds of people everywhere.

So, don't give me that BS about me not knowing the difference. Ain't no difference!!! Not with a nuke.

Yes, “ there are many motives and they are not mutually exclusive.” But pinning invasion threshold motives on teaching Russian language is very minor. Oil Revenues is very major. And being able to bully his neighbors while expanding his empire is also major.

The Ukes now have a new motive: the nuclear version of Aggressive Neutrality, commonly known as “leave us the frack alone”.

Putin is NOT insane.

Technically, you may be correct.

But, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. A person with absolute power will not listen to reason, thereby making his decisions 'insane'. Ever hear of people acting in anger or temporary insanity? Putin will have his way, and consequences may not matter to him. Someone like that might as well be considered insane.

It’s called sarcasm. It was pretty apparent to me, but next time I’ll flag it as such for the more simple-minded posters among us.

Yeah, I understand. I do it all the time.

I do it in deadly serious events and circumstances sometime. People dying in Ukraine is sort of a laughing matter, and I joke about it all the time.

Seeing how paranoid Putyin is, it is not reasonable for our push to hem in Russia by promoting NATO memberships right up to the Russian borders.

Yet, Putin decided to attack/invade a non-NATO country. So, it would seem that the best policy is to offer every non-NATO country membership in the organization. Putin would NOT HAVE invaded Ukraine if it had been a NATO country. NATO is the deterrent that Putin respects, no matter how paranoid he is.

In fact, the U.S. should partner up with the rest of the world that fears China and Russia and N. Korea and Iran and all terrorism-supporting countries. No dictatorships or tyrannies allowed in that alliance.

You just don’t get it. That has not been the best policy since it has goaded Vald into war. Do you want a nuclear conflagration? ... Your ‘resonable’ policy is working the world toward that advent.

Your ‘resonable’ policy is working the world toward that advent.

Meanwhile, Putin is using the threat of nuclear weapons to wipe out whole cities in Ukraine and killing many thousands of Ukrainians, and still continuing to depend upon the scare tactics to hold the U.S. and Europeans at bay.

Putin might as well have used nuclear weapons to accomplish what he has up to now, since the devastation is about equal or more than what the 'tactical' nuclear weapons would have accomplished.

Nuclear weapons are being used by Putin, though indirectly. When is a nuclear weapon more effective than its actual use: when you can accomplish the same thing you wanted without actually using it.

Putin did not get goaded into war; he was going to do it anyway. His ambitions were well known and he has expressed them throughout his life.

Do you get a paycheck for this work you’re trying to do?

What work is that?

Meanwhile, I don't get paid for showing concern for oppressed people and trying to stand up for them.

Do you support Putin or Ukraine or just express whatever opinion is popular with people on the interned or even on FR?

So, should everybody get paid for commenting on matters, regardless of the matter? Do you get paid for commenting, whichever side you're supporting?

Oh, I don't know. Ever hear of Putin? Is he somehow a better than the current opponent in Ukraine? Do you think Putin is a good guy?

Stop trying to badger me.

Stop posting ridiculous comments, no matter what side you support.

Putin is not insane, he is KGB mean ... and there are no good guys in this war, only the heartbreaking civilian slaughter. Zelensky6 is a Klaus schwab graduate of the WEF and working to install the new world order ‘great reset’. He’s also a sexual degenerate. Are you a Zelensky fanboy? Do you like his vinylwear? Or maybe you’re a Hunter Biden fanboy and want Putin to stop before he finds evidence of Biden’s corruptuion???

Not a Zelenskyy fanboi, but, I am a Ukrainian people supporter. I don’t care who’s in power or in control. I only care about the people. Zelenskyy happens to be the leader of Ukraine right now, and whatever he does to stop Putin, I’m for. Get the difference???

And, if Putin is a graduate of the KGB crap, then, he’s insane. Having become brainwashed with the crap from the KGB and then leading the KGB or still supporting the agenda of the KGB and of the Russian empire, does mean that you do insane things. What Putin is doing right now is the work of a madman. Heck, we have madmen/madwomen in our midst, where their agenda matters more than what benefits the people.

We were using proxies and when, on rare occasion, an American met a Soviet in dogfight or something it would be tolerated due to the threat of WWIII. What is so terribly dangerous here is all of DC apparently wants to put American planes with American pilots in Ukraine killing Russians. No more proxies.

Also Pravda was not running stories during Vietnam re: "Yesterday Cpt. Pyotr Ivanovitch's S-75 SAM battery shot down an American B-52 bomber over Haiphong, killing the entire crew." We may have known through radio intercepts that the MIG or S-75 that took out an aircraft, half a world away from the continental United States, was in fact manned by Soviets, but that fact was not generally known, and both sides kept it a secret.

The US did not have to factor in to its considerations that everyone knew the Soviets were shooting down US planes and killing US personnel, and that we would lose public face if we failed to pay them back in kind. If we start publicly taking out Russian aircraft and tanks a double digit number of miles from the Russian border, all bets are off.

News flash! Ppl are being killed in the Russian separatist held area of Ukraine by the Azov Battalion and Nazi loving forces in that area. I’ve yet to see you express sympathy for the Russian civilians being killed by their fellow Ukrainian countrymen.
