All high schools should require EKGs prior to participation. I was involved with research that found we don’t need echocardiograms in every athlete to prevent death by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, but we do need an EKG and a good history and exam. If your high school isn’t doing it hopefully it will be soon.

The trouble is that an ECG can only effectively spot a really obvious heart defect, and then, only one that happens in a resting state.
To detect either a subtle defect, or one that only happens during high heart stress is a *lot* more difficult. You have to wear a monitor during high stress exercise, for a long time, and then it needs to be evaluated by a computer comparable to a skilled cardiologist.
And because heart function is subject to change without notice, you have to figure out how often to do it, annually may not be anywhere near enough.
And lots of substances, legal and illegal, can foul up heart function.
But it’s a virus, and not a bio-weapon, remarkably containing at least one “coincidentally” patented bit of nastiness... There was NO weaponizing gain of function involved, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, but only mass acceptance of gene therapy with aborted baby associated testing can overcome it...

And the unprecedented many orders of magnitude increase in VAERS reported vaccine related deaths and injuries actually have nothing at all to do with those utterly innocent and Holy gene therapies... (In spite of the rest of the planet’s reporting systems showing the same increases...)
