A Twitter thread has gone viral after making eyebrow-raising claims that the Russian government is taking down American biolabs in Ukraine under the pretext of the "special military operation" that has pushed the world to the brink of an all-out war.
The claims surfaced shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping met recently and issued a joint statement slamming US bioweapons activities. It's worth noting that both Russia and the Soviet Union have a long history of bioweapons-related misinformation. The latest allegations came as Russia launched a terrifying military operation in preparation for a potential invasion of Ukraine.

The labs at issue are reportedly part of a network of facilities linked to the Biological Threat Reduction Program, which is a US government-funded effort dating back to the 1990s aimed at reducing the threat of the former Soviet Union’s weapons of mass destruction programs, including in countries like Ukraine that was once a part of the communist regime. The Soviets had maintained a massive bioweapons program, and part of the role of the US-linked labs is to take custody over leftover supplies, similar to a central reference laboratory in Kazakhstan. This explains the source of the "U.S. bioweapon labs in Ukraine" and "Is Putin really after bioweapon labs?" rumors going around. So who is the former twitter user "War Clandestine" who started this? According to the internet archive of the now deleted account, they singed up October 2020. They had some notoriety for posting a weird story (EYE BLEACH WARING) about Trump during the last election.
This is a supposed "Trump supporter" who helps makes make Trump look bad during the election. Then a year later, they post a conspiracy about these labs, when to create the conspiracy they would have to know what these labs are and that they are part of a 30 year old arms control and reduction program, and deliberately exclude those facts. Then connect it to current headlines, while ignoring all the history that has nothing to do with these labs. Whoever started this was a political troll or disinformation agent, or just another online oddball who had their fifteen minutes of fame.

Government always names agencies/legislation the opposite of what they actually do.
I understand there is a certain comfort in these theories. If everything in the world is directed by a Deep State/Soros/DNC cabal that means at least someone has a plan, even if it is an evil one.
The scary truth is that even those entities have very little control over what happens. History is random, chaotic, and unpredictable.
No man knowns what will come next we are all along for the ride.

They used the magic word “debunked” so it never happened. The US government has been purging its own websites of documents outlining these labs and their funding.
Is this one 30 years old.? What is it? I had called bs to everyone who mentioned it - till I saw this (one of the few) now I’m not as confident about my stance.

The U.S. Embassy is in Kyiv which is being encircled by the Russian army. What the embassy IT staff has done is physically disconnect from the public internet as many servers possible to avoid cyber attacks. They are likely preparing to physically destroy those servers in case the Russian army violates the diplomatic immunity embassies have.
