Beautiful but haunting.
The vaccinating bats question is actually quite interesting and insightful, though I don’t think it was intended to be in such a podcast. Could a vaccine for bats be designed as self-spreading among a bat population and deployed without huge collateral side effects? A rabies vaccine?

Not a vaccine but sterilization. One form of control is produce millions of mosquitos and sterilize them and then release them in the wild.
The idea is they will mate with females who will not produce more mosquitos.

Give them an untested vaccine that causes an autoimmune response, nervous system damage, heart damage, and generally ruins their immune system and you might be destroying a well balanced ecosystem.
Much better to give it to a billion humans and see what happens.
