Professors at a New York university support an “inclusive” policy that prioritizes student participation based on their race and gender.
Binghamton University sociology professor Ana Maria Candela’s syllabus forced white male students to take a back seat to other students because of her “progressive stacking” policy, according to a screenshot posted by Libs of Tik Tok on Twitter.
“This means that we try to give priority to non-white folks, to women, and to shy and quiet people who rarely raise their hands,” the syllabus states. “It also means that if you are white, male, or someone privileged by the racial and gender structures of our society to have your voice easily voiced and heard, we will often ask you to hold off on your questions or comments to give others priority and will come back to you a bit later or at another time.”

Of course, their tuition will be prorated as well, right? It’s only fair. If their classroom dialogue is restricted or solely at the professor’s discretion, then WTH should they have to pay full price?
I had a professor who had four dice. Everyone in class had a number from 4 to 24. He would ask a question and roll the dice.
If you didn’t have an answer.. (It didn’t have to be right, but you had to demonstrate you did the work) you failed for the day.
It was brutal.

It was always my experience that the women were always the first to volunteer an “insightful” answer or ask some “brilliant” question.

Um...from extensive experience, the people raising their hands are the ones who did the studying. That isn’t “privilege”, it’s doing the work. Here the professor - if he or she can be dignified with that title - is simply saying “Diligent people, shut up.” Gonna get a lot of educating done that way...

Seems fair. I am a graduate student as well as a husband and homeowner. I have plenty on my plate, but manage to show up to class prepared.
The white males should band together and never answer a question the rest of the term. If asked directly, just say not ready to give an answer.
