Putin was grossly mistaken in thinking he would be greeted as a liberator, or at least that he would be greeted as a liberator among Russian-speaking Ukrainians.
It seems that some outsiders also imagine, from looking at old election maps or maps of linguistic regions in Ukraine, that because some region tends toward Russian-speakers or voted for such-and-such a person 15 years ago, that they would welcome being absorbed by Putin's Russia.
It just ain't that simple.
oops, title is:
HOW ONE UKRAINIAN CITY IS PREPARING TO RESIST THE RUSSIANS’ ARRIVAL
You are very prominent in the pro Ukraine side of things. Is this a recent conversion? You had nothing to say when Obafuhrer Obama let Putin do what he liked in Ukraine in 2014.
I honestly don’t know what to think about some of these
reports.
Of course I like what they seem to be doing, but I’m not sure
that it’s all true.
If it is, Putin certainly stepped in a pasture patty this
time.
If even the Russian speaking people are angry, that’s a very
big dent in his claim he was only looking out for them.
There is a lot of negative talk about Putin and Russia
at this time. I happen to wish good things for the
Ukrainian and Russian people.
It is sad the Russian leader got fixated on this to the
point he couldn’t see any downside to what he is pulling
off.
If he captures Kiev and kills it’s leader, he might think
he just won the battle.
The fact is, he will have solidified his defeat in the eyes
of the world, the eyes of the Ukrainians, perhaps the Russian
speakers in the Ukraine, and in most minds in Russia and
its civilian and military leadership.
Nice job there cowboy.
How do you unify all your enemies in just a matter of weeks?
thank you for fixing the title admin moderator
I know there’s probably a lot we’re not hearing, but this sounds like bad opsec.
“Even in this part of Ukraine, where many people have family ties to Russia and speak Russian as their primary language at home, the brutality of combat has spurred hard feelings toward Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin. “
Bombs don’t differentiate between Ukraines and Russians.
“We’ll never forgive Russia for what they’ve done to us,” said Mykola, who has family still in Kharkiv enduring an indiscriminate Russian bombardment. “Russia has committed a crime against humanity, and we need to show that to the whole world.”...
Good hunting. Kill the russian bastards.
Central and East present day Ukraine started as part of the Rus Peoples territory.
They got slaughtered by Khan and the Mongol Hordes.
Later, first the French, then Germany swept through present day Ukraine to attack Russia.
I admire their desire to stand, fight and protect their village with small arms. They will get creamed by artillery
The Rus Peoples territory is placed in a shitty location
