“We are still buying crude oil from Putin. We are wiring him money every day from the United States and payment for crude oil going into Boston Harbor. You know, we are being lied to. We are being conned.”

President Biden said Thursday that the U.S. is working with other countries on a coordinated oil release from the global petroleum reserve in the coming days in a bid to reduce rising gasoline prices.

"there were no sanctions on the oil and gas"

Why aren't there sanctions on the importation of oil and gas from Russia? In what universe does a nation put sanctions on individuals in Russia, including Putin, and then do business as usual?

It's not just Russia. Scratch a liberal and he will bleed oil from his investment portfolio. He doesn't care where the money comes from.

Thats true, my point is this guy is ranting about lying. No one ever claimed we would stop buying the oil. Biden explicitly stated that in the announcement. I would think guy should be smart enogh to get the most basic facts correct before shooting his mouth off.

I don’t know why that is. Probably some complex logistical reasons.

Of course this should stop, but should mention it is only ~3% of the consumption, so it won’t be a big lever.

I think he raises a valid issue regarding our foreign policy regarding Russia in the present crisis.

FReepers who are knowledgeable about oil trading might be better able to provide information. I would love to see Peter Doocy pose the question to circle jerk Psaki.

Every news article had this. Whats not to understand?

Earlier this week, the White House was criticized after Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh said that the sanctions levied against Russia are “not designed to disrupt” Russia’s energy exports.

“Our sanctions are not designed to cause any disruption to the current flow of energy from Russia to the world,” Singh said.

"Our sanctions are not designed to cause any disruption to the current flow of energy from Russia to the world,” Singh said."

The difference is that Trump had policies which were competitive and which caused Putin economic pain. He didn't need to impose sanctions. Biden's policies enrich Russia, Venezuela, and Iran to name a few. And bottom line, Democrats get rich off of oil too, so why rock the boat?

President Biden said Thursday that the U.S. is working with other countries on a coordinated oil release from the global petroleum reserve in the coming days in a bid to reduce rising gasoline prices.

The release from the oil reserves Biden is talking about amounts to a 2 day supply at present U.S. crude oil consumption rates ...and the plan is to release it over a period of 6 to 8 months. It is nothing.

"It is nothing."

Agreed. The usual posturing to make the dullards think he is actually doing something. More feel goodism from President Puddin Head.
