Yesterday the New York Times reported on U.S. intelligence and diplomatic officials from the State Dept sharing intelligence with Chinese officials in the three months leading up to the Russian invasion. {Go Deep on Analysis} The narrative from the article tells the story of the U.S. trying to convince China in December, January and February to intervene and persuade Russia not to cross the border into Ukraine.
Many people have looked at this story from the perspective of incompetence, ie. why would the Biden team think China would not share the intel, etc.
However, when it comes to these types of issues, never ascribe to incompetence that which can be explained by intent.
There’s every reason to believe what the Biden intelligence community and state department were sharing with China was done so with the intention of Beijing giving it to Moscow.
From that perspective the question around intent becomes, what did they push and why did they push it?

Let me draw up a simple analogy so even a simpleminded person like yourself may understand. Suppose China or Russia undermined a duly elected President of Mexico, proceeded to turn the Mexicans against us with their self serving propaganda, and declared their intention to bring Mexico into a strategic military alliance with them including the possibility of nuclear weapons. Do you really think the US would stand back and say oh well I guess we will just have to accept this, it would violate international law if we invaded Mexico, blah, blah, blah.

It is entirely possible that Russia was baited. Biden then slow walks military aid hoping the Ukraine is crushed by Russia. That would put an end Joe and Hunter’s Ukraine problem.

The usual comparison is the Soviets putting nuke missiles into Cuba. One way or another, that wasn’t happening.
Who is “us”? I don’t recall me or anyone else I know who has any control over these events. I do recall that nearly every event seems to be pointing to the fact that the people in control want the US to fall.

ok, through a reliably neutral country then. trusting mainland china for anything much less strategic diplomacy signaling strains credibility imho.
That is an apt description. WE antagonized with the goal of gaining control for ???? WE put or want to put offensive missiles within striking distance of another nation. WE have shown ourselves to be aggressive since I was a pup, the 1950’s. As time has gone by, it is more and more about nothing except power and money. The days of sending troops to protect the innocence of others are long past. Last time was, in Grenada?
Not to mention, inflation, gas prices, illegals streaming across non-existent border for many miles, etc are all off the front pages. It is now UKRAINE 24-7 on every channel I watch.
Why do all the “mistakes” happen in one direction? An idiot makes mistakes nilly willy. Those who plan, make them with deep thought.

The same reasoning to say Biden provoked Russia, can also be used to say Biden set up Ukraine for a Russian invasion.
If Biden really gave a green light for Ukraine to join NATO three months ago, then his words and actions in response to the invasion do not make sense. Article Five of the NATO charter says that all NATO members are obligated to defend each other from attack. If Biden really was willing to allow Ukraine to join NATO, then he was willing for the U.S. to defend Ukraine from Russia.
Biden is not taking any action that directly helps Ukraine at all. He is not sending money, weapons, first aid, or helping refugees. He is issuing sanctions that he admits will take time. Nothing he has done for three days has had any effect on the invasion at all.

This kind of thing is done through a specific agreeable country that the spooks think is best for the particular job. It can have to do with currently available connections with double agents, for example. The boring machinery part of espionage. “So and so has the ear of the Counsel General” of a China port for example. Counsel Generals are spooks, they pass info at those big noisy parties they throw for ship captains as cover. It’s a very interesting business, just one tiny piece of a huge mosaic.
