Fox News is now reporting that the Russians are moving in on the city of Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an evening speech that a lot of cities were under attack, although reportedly, none have fallen yet.
Zelenskyy in his evening speech: "This night will be harder than the day. Many cities of our state are under attack: Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, our boys and girls in the Donbas, the cities of the south, special attention to Kyiv. We can't lose the capital." https://t.co/QoEBDwV5ET pic.twitter.com/k5LfSowxiO

The Ukrainians have put up a brave fight, taking out a lot of Russians and their equipment in the process. While it’s difficult to confirm the numbers and they may be exaggerated, it’s clear that the Russians suffered more casualties than they had hoped on the first day. If even half of it is true, the Russians are getting a drubbing and facing much more resistance than they thought.
Russia has lost 2,800 troops, 80 tanks, 516 armored vehicles, 10 airplanes, and 7 helicopters in its invasion of Ukraine: deputy defense minister.
Numbers as of 3pm Ukraine time.

As we previously reported, it sounds like Vladimir Putin is getting desperate with his latest remarks, calling on the Ukrainian military to join him because the leaders are “Neo-Nazis and drug addicts.” That’s not happening anytime soon.
Fox contributor Gen. Jack Keane said Putin has chosen the most difficult plan (meaning moving in from multiple directions in the country), and “he’s struggling with it.”
There are even persistent, although unconfirmed, reports that some of the Russian units are out of food, and are asking for food or taking it, suggesting they may be spread too thin.
Ukrainian army claims halting Russian forces at Konotop and destroying a total of 40 vehicles throughout the battle. Also claim the Russians are suffering from supply issues and trying to get food and fuel from locals.

Not good for public opinion: there’s the possible war crime of bombing a kindergarten.
Zelensky on the Russian shelling of a kindergarten in Ukraine that killed at least one child and injured more:
"What kind of war is that? Were these children neo-Nazi? Or were they NATO soldiers?"

But maybe the most problematic of all for world opinion is that they have attacked the ships of nations other than Ukraine in the Black Sea — they hit a Japanese ship and a ship from Moldova. They may be attacking them to prevent food from getting into Ukraine, in the hope they can cut off food to the population.
Russia has hit two more foreign merchant vessels in the Black sea. After having attacked a Romanian cargo vessel, Russians have hit a Japanese and a Moldovan ships. Russia will not come to next nations tomorrow – it has already started to attack them. #RussiaMustBeStopped https://t.co/6h70Opbdro

Among those attacked were ships from NATO countries — one Turkish ship and one Romanian the day before. Needless to say, this is not good. This could draw NATO into it, if this doesn’t stop.
While things haven’t been going well for Putin and he appears to have bitten off more than he can chew at the same time, he does have more Russians ready to come in, as well as Chechens. Putin’s calculation there is that if Chechens are killed in the fight, that Russians will be less upset with him than if Russians are killed.

But now, there’s word that Putin may want to ‘talk,’ and that he’s calling for a meeting in Minsk.
Now Kremlin seems to vaguely reverse course; Peskov says Putin is prepared to send representatives to Minsk, Belarus, for talks with Ukraine, after Zelensky earlier said he was ready to discuss Ukraine’s “neutral status.”

Putin said he was ready for talks, after he held a call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, the New York Times reported.
It may be that he realizes he bit off too much and is looking to buy a way out of it. Or that he’s just trying to buy time. Zelensky had previously said he would be willing to talk, so we’ll have to see how things evolve.
total horrible unnecessary loss of life.
If it is true that the russians lost two big transport jets carrying up to 300 paratroopers into unsecured combat zones, then the Russian generals are taking reckless risks and must be under immense pressure from a very worried, anxious Putin who made the most catastrophic decision of his life. The morale of the Russian army must be very low and the anger and discontent within the Russian population is growing daily. IMHO Putin will be deposed in less than a year.
Complicated plan he has going there.
Who sends their kids off to kindergarten during a hostile foriegn invasion?
We must PRAY FIERCELY HARD that he doesn’t do anything more catastrophic in his current state of mind.
Russia loses in Ukraine and China can forget about Taiwan.
Gog and Magog.
Putin’s lost his dam mind.
Waited for a weak-ass illegal resident in charge of ‘Murica.
Putin is 70 and desperate to secure his legacy. Unfortunately he miscalculated and now his legacy will be a severely damaged Russia
Excellent point. However the Russian army high command can’t be happy. The politicians do what politicians do. That’s how coups happen. Agree however that a scalded predator is a dangerous animal.
There is an information war going on. Wouldn’t put too much stock in the numbers being put out by the Ukraine government. The fog of war.
Wonder if what happened within Putin’s inner just before the he gave the final order to implement the big attack on 2/22/22. By 2/21/22 his “peacekeepers” had entered the two Russified provinces unopposed, were being reinforced and were taking control. He had secured his stated objectives. Wonder if anyone raised the possibility that conquering Ukraine would not be easy, that there were likely to be politically unacceptable high casualties and that it just wasn’t worth it. Sadly the truth will probably never be told about what was said and happened during those fateful hours. In the end Putin made the most catastrophic decision of his life.
Because if Ukraine survives, it will be one of the most lopsided come from behind victories in history.
Heartbreaking and infuriating. Russia stumbled into the Ukraine like a bull in a china shop and so many innocent people are being hurt and killed.
And for what?
Nothing to know here.
In this age the thought of perception holds power.
Reality is a concept of truth. Truth gets you killed.
Russia has lost 2,800 troops, 80 tanks, 516 armored vehicles, 10 airplanes, and 7 helicopters in its invasion of Ukraine: deputy defense minister.......
They made him a russian lieutenant,
They gave him a tank of his own,
He met with a javelin missile,
And out of his tank he was blown.
Sung to the tune of “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.”
Ukrainians have purpose and resolve. They know what they are fighting for. Zelensky was a genuinely elected leader that has the support of his people especially now, and they see how loyal he is to them.
The Russian troops do NOT have any of the above going for them. They are being forced to do this. :( And Putin could care less about them or their families :( And Russian people aplenty are horrified by what’s taking place.
I believe the moral and spiritual currency of the Ukrainians far outweighs the physical equipping of the Russian military. The world is rooting for Ukraine. There is something universally inspiring about their underdog quest for freedom. Maybe doing a little something to wake up the populaces of places like China and other repressive systems hmm?!
I also believe in divine intervention.
[Putin is 70 and desperate to secure his legacy. Unfortunately he miscalculated and now his legacy will be a severely damaged Russia]
EDIT:
Correct thread:
I’d like to believe this. But, it just doesn’t make sense. Why would Putin panic? He’s got the Germans playing hide and seek, Biteme is off to La La Land, and he has a massive military he doesn’t give a brown turd about ready to seize a few trillion dollars in natural resources.
