This is happening in Canada. Not the US. Yet.
When the time comes, we will not fare much better than the Canadian truckers or the January 6th marchers *still* locked up in confinement without being charged for a crime.

I have seen it noted on a number of threads, over the years, that the local police have no recognized responsibility to keep you safe in daily life. The police basically exist to enforce local ordinances through fines. They are basically a revenue instrument.
That’s not great, in my opinion, but it is what it is.
But then the police get militarized, and you get jack-booted thugs stomping people in the face to keep the peasants in line.
Why is that a good thing? Who voted for that? Is this a desirable situation? The Second Amendment tells me that if We The People decided that the police (at all levels) want to write parking tickets, that’s OK, but if they start doing the Jack Booted Thug thing, then it is an existential crisis for them, for us, and for the country, and needs to be stopped each and every time. That’s the point of the Solzhenitsyn quote, I think.
Everything changes quickly once We decide that it need to change quickly. But we just haven’t got there yet.
We still think that things will change if we just vote really, really, really hard in November. And if it doesn’t? If Democrats magically get 75% of the vote in November? If Joe magically gets 100 million votes in 2024? Change is gonna come.
