The recent publication of the book The Black Boom by author Jason L. Riley, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, throws a monkey wrench into the progressive claim that Democrats are the benefactors of minorities. Riley says his research shows that "blacks saw economic progress under Trump that the Obama administration didn't come close to matching."
Riley, who is no fan of Trump and didn't vote for him in either 2016 or 2020, points out that "racial inequality improved on Trump's watch, and much of the media were too busy agitating against him to take note or give credit where it was due. Reporters suspended any professional and ethical standards in a concerted effort to take down a president they didn't like."
President Biden rallied to the defense of his pal former President Obama, pointing out that "the metrics used by Riley are based on 'white values.' He touts the rising number of successful black-owned businesses as a major factor in his judgment that Trump's economic policies did more to improve the lives of blacks than the policies devised by Democrats. He fails to recognize that enticing blacks to seek prosperity through capitalistic enterprise erodes their authenticity as black people. Barrack would never do that. Neither will I. Democrats want blacks to receive economic equity by taxing the whites so the government can provide for them. That way an entire race can lead a life of leisure denied to their ancestors who were slaves. I say, if you imitate white ways of becoming rich you ain't black."
