Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act for the first time in the country’s history to crack down on protests against his vaccine mandate — just days after the Biden administration urged him to use “federal powers.”
Last Thursday, several Biden administration officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, spoke to their counterparts in Canada as protesters closed the Ambassador Bridge.

I’ve said all along - this fairy Trudeau was never his own man. He’s been receiving calls (and probably a lot more) from global leaders, and particularly the USA, telling him - “fix this ASAP because we don’t want to deal with the same protests here!”
That’s my view.

Those truckers could shut down Canada's capital city for the next hundred years, and nobody in Canada's government would give a damn.
But since Canada only exists to be a trading partner with the U.S., blocking a major trade route like the Ambassador Bridge is treated as a threat to the nation's existence.

Hopefully some Canadian here can answer that question with confidence. But from what I’ve read, no act of Parliament is necessary.
If that’s so, it’s sickening. This trucker situation is like the Covid situation. Neither are true IMMEDIATE emergencies. There is plenty of time to consult with the appropriate legislatures.
But our executives (prime ministers, governors, etc.) are behaving like kings instead. They issue one royal decree after another. As I noted earlier, it’s sickening.
