Heating fuel to run in their trucks?
As a longtime diesel car owner, I know some people run their vehicles with heating fuel. There was a time when it was cheaper than diesel. Heating fuel is dyed red. The pump hose for heating fuel is also very short so it can only reach a can and not a vehicle fuel tank. Cops have been known to check the color of fuel in diesel-powered vehicle tanks with a wooden stick or some sort of white rope. If the cops catch you using it in a road vehicle, they will give you a big fat ticket.

Yes. One of the comments on the Twitter thread was that a lot of the fuel containers appeared to be empty... I thought at first that might be because their contents had already been delivered... makes sense to do as you say, use them as decoys... they can’t arrest everybody...

I think the picture is being misrepresented.
First Red means Gasoline which won’t do the truckers much good if that is what were in those containers.
Next they look like about 2 gallon containers. The way they are being carried indicate that they are probably empty.
It is a fight punctuated by occasional game play.
